Narrowing down the days an travel times and campgrounds. Thanks this was a great help. mdock2 loved your website and all the info. Done nicely.
bodyshop bob - not sure which is Natchez Parkway haven't found it on the map yet but looking. Is there a highway number?
We are going to try and stay at Tom Sawyer's Campground.

Your Schnauzer will love the trip. Ours loves to travel in the RV. She has a spot behind the passenger seat that she likes to sleep. If you want a nice spot to camp about 50 miles west of Memphis on I40 there is a great state park. It is called Village Creek in Forrest City Arkansas. It is an Arkansas State Park with full hooks up and lots of space. They take reservations. It is off interstate I would guess five miles.
Enjoy your trip with your new travel buddy.

The Natchez Trace Parkway runs from Mississippi to Nashville and not sure you would be going north or south, but east bound. Nashville has some campgrounds around Opryland Hotel area, like Two Rivers RV Park, KOA, etc, good if you are into country music and close to downtown Nashville. My favorite RV park in Gatlinburg is Twin Creek RV Campground, just out of town. Very good and close to the only large grocery store. Look at their website. I personally don't care for Pigeon Forge, but the campgrounds have a shuttle bus that runs by ever so often.

I see you only have about 2 wks available. Plan how many miles you intend to cover going and coming so you can better determine how much time you'll have to see the places that are "must sees" on your trip. We just got back from our third trip to Yellowstone in the last few years and we still haven't seen all we want to in that part of the country. We routinely spend 2 wks at an rv park as base camp then travel from there as far-ranging as the sites we want to see. We always come across something new forcing us to make changes but that's the fun part of rving.
We stay in a couple of places in Pigeon Forge regularly.
Favorite place is Riverbend campground. It is 1/2 mile off the PF parkway, secluded, large campground. River runs through the campground. Very peaceful, paved roads and sites, lots of shade in about half the campground, great bang for the buck price wise.
Second place is Pine Mountain in PF as well. Big sites, awesome bathhouse, but a bit pricey.

Ok I'm finally getting our trip booked for Tenn. Have some questions.
We are considering staying at either of the following RV parks.
Creekside RV - Pigeon Forge $36
Foothill RV. Park - PF $36
Twin Creek Gatlinburg $60 pricey I think.
Any inputs on these. I have never been to the area and after reading the reviews have narrow it down. I think we want the park to be on Trolley route because of parking? Looking for level, easy to get into. back ins are fine. (so I don't have to heard my husband get mad at me because he is frustrated!) You all have been there. Sites to accomendate slides. Cable and wifi would be nice, pool. There will be two RV's no kids, two small dogs. I think we will be mostly on the go site seeing the areas. Wasn't sure if we should stay in PF,Gat,Seveirville. Thanks.

Thanks we now have reservations for Village Creek in Forrest City.
navybanker wrote: COE has a very nice CG on Percy Priest Lake right in East Nashville area but doesn't have sewer (has dump). Easy off I 40 and close by but is very secluded, wooded CG that is close to the Hermitage, home/farm of Andrew Jackson. The CG is difficult to get in on weekends but usually can during the week.
GSMNP is a big area in both NC and TN. You want to see Cades Cove and the Elk herd. There is plenty of info at visitors' centers both in Gatlinburg and GSMNP. Lots and lots of hiking trails. If you stay in Gatlinburg or Pidgeon Forge make sure the CG is served by the trolley so you don't have to drive in the touristy areas outside of GSMNP. Have fun!
We now have reservations for Percy Priest Lake we are staying in Seven Points campground they take reservations. We have a couple of shows booked for Grand Ole Opry. Thanks can't wait to see Nashville leaving this Friday.
Would like to thank everyone who helped us plan our wonderful trip to Tenn.
We left SW OK and stayed first night at Brushy Creek in Sallisaw. Use to be a State Park the city bought. Nice people and is on a little lake. Nicely spaced sites. Then we headed to Forrest City, AR. Nice campground we practically had to ourselves. Next to Nashville - We decided to stay at the COE Percy Priest Lake 7 miles east of town. Probably the nicest COE we have stayed at. Large sites and picnic tables some sites have view of lake. Easy drive for us to the Opry and other shows. Next to Pigeon Forge area we stayed in Sevierville,TN. at Cove Mountain Creek. The people were very nice. They have no bath house which I thought would not be a problem we had full hook-up. Unfortunately we had a major sewer problem. Glad we had friends with us with RV. Mostly perm. RVers. Easy 15 minutes into town. Lucked out Pigeon F. and Gatlinburg were having a slow week and traffic wasn't bad. Next stop Chattanooga,TN. we stayed at Holiday Village RV park. Very nice helpful staff. Park lives up to it's wonderful ratings. Next off to Memphis Tom Sawyer RV Park. Not sure if it really lives up to it's reviews. Nice being camped on the river and watching all the barges go up and down the river. Because of lack of rain it was windy and dusty and no shade. But a great place if you want to go to Beal St. and downtown Memphis. Next to Cotter, AR our favorite campground trout fishing spot. We stay at White River Cottage and RV Campground. Backed right up to the White River beautiful view. Just want to say Thank you very much for all your helpful suggestions and helping us make our vacation wonderful. We lucked out with beautiful weather and managed to avoid the Hurricane. Thanks again.
