leaving on a Sunday is ok as everyone else is going home! Sunday thru Thursday is what we like. We prefer to stay put on the weekends. We leave between 9 and 10am and arrive at next stop about 3pm. We avoid major cities during am and pm rush hours. If possible, we don't travel on a holiday weekend. We full time so we don't have to rush and have lots of flexibility.

Because we both still work we take Friday and leave very early or after rush hour (Tampa). This gives us Saturday and Sunday for generally carefree driving.

While the sentiment is good, an hour stuck in traffic at Cordelia here in CA will quickly cure such feelings...

We boondock a lot and have found that if we get to a public CG on Sunday afternoon or Monday there are plenty of sites big enough for our 42'. Since we are half timers and more flexible than most who only have the weekends to camp, we travel and resuppply on the weekends using private CGs. It seems like after five days in an area we are ready to move on to the next so this works well for us. On holiday weekends we sometimes stay put for more than five days.
Best days to go through Atlanta are Sat and Sunday and have found this to be true of most large cities.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

It depends on where you are...in rural areas any day is good! Near any major city or Interstate Highway--Tuesday thru Thursday before or after thier rush hour. We've found any other time is just a real headache!

over the past 26-years, apart from avoiding large cities during the morning and evening rush hours, we've found no difference in *traveling* during any of the days of the week.
if we're going to one of our favorite state campgrounds for a few days we'll leave home on sunday afternoon and time our arrival for check-out time. this gives us the 'pick of the litter' in terms of campsites. we'll stay a few days and be outta there no later than friday morning before the hordes start to arrive.

Day...Sunday, to avoid the crowds. You can almost have an entire state park to yourself from Monday thru Thursday.
Time....As far as time of day, it depends on which direction we're traveling. When going west we'll leave earlier and stop sooner to avoid the sun glare. Do the opposite when traveling east.
