After 9 days away, we found we need to organize the basement compartment. Husband moved the "walls" inside to gain more space. (they met in the middle on a diagonal with wasted space behind) A $75 trip to Lowes for shelving, wire containers, baskets, hooks, etc. Plan is to made one wide shelf the entire width of the compartment to have about 8" from the ceiling to hold chairs, tables, etc. Then organize hoses, cords, tools, etc in remaining space. Will take pictures and post. SUGGESTIONS are welcome before we start on helpful hints, etc.

We like to use those plastic containers in our pass through front storage for most things.
Works well and is organized...for us.

I use tension shower curtain rods or tension curtain rods wedged between the floor & ceiling of large spaces in order to put some things on their edge instead of stacking - sometimes saves a lot of space. Like I have a box fan, steering wheel table, lighted flag takes up about 8" floor space on edge - would take 28" if stacked flat.

Looking just the other night using the "search" button and found some great ideas on this site. I think I used the search word "sewer hose storage" or "basement storage" and found pic's of peoples storage of sewer hoses but also regular storage and basement storage. Pretty smart people out there sometimes.

Some good ideas. Been doing some thinking on what to do in the Cameo. I haven't been able to get it the way I want. I saw a trailer the other day that used a table. Cut the legs so they had a 2 story compartment. Not sure I could find a table that would fit my compartment.

We always use stacking totes in ours.
They used to be labeled so DH would know what was in each. But over the years, they crack, overflow, get refilled with different items. So it's a source of frustration when he needs something and has to move 4 totes to get to the one he wants. ;-)

Organization is a good thing. We not only use the plastic totes, we also separate items in clear plastic "bags" that linens come in.

We added a high shelf as you propose, then a ledge just below that which holds the screwdriver, pliers, crescent wrench etc which always seem to migrate to the very bottom of the tool bin.
