We were in Soldotna in 2011. Our plans are to spend more time in Soldotna in 2013 and would like to know the name of the campground in Soldotna right at the bridge going over the Keni river. I remember from under the bridge on the side of the visitors center you could look across the river and see a campground with all the cleaning tables right on the river. If anyone knows the name of that campground or other campgrounds (with hook-ups) on the river that are convenient for fishing please let us know...
Thanks, jonlin

hmmm.... We were just there, staying at the Klondike RV park on Funny River Road. I didn't notice River Terrace RV park (it is there, I just didn't notice it).
The Visitor Center is at the junction of Sterling Highway and Funny River Road (left turn)/ Kalifornski Beach Road (right turn). It is on the right when you are headed toward Homer. On the left is Ken's Fishing Tackle. If you turn left on Funny River Road, there is an RV park right next to Ken's called

It has river frontage for fishing. The one thing about it is they do not allow pets.

RoadLife,
How was Klondike? We are scheduled to stay there in a couple of weeks. It is close to the airport and we are flying over to Lake Clark for a couple of days.

We stayed a week at Klondike and had no complaints at all. Most of the other campers were repeat customers and willing to share talk, smokers, fishing tips, and munchies.

When we were there they had just laid down fresh gravel on the roads and rv 'pads'. It has a "nicer" feel to it than the other rustic rv parks. We felt we were away from the hustle and bustle even though just a block away. We would definitely stay there again.

Thanks! Appreciate the feedback. Our friends fly in tonight for two weeks plus and we will be there toward the end of their trip. Can't wait for them to arrive.

If your trying to get a campground in the next two weeks in kenai/soldotna with hookups its tough. Half of Anchorage will be down there dipnetting (including me) for the next several weeks. We did not decide on staying ina campgroundnuntill last minute and there was nothing available anywhere for next week with hook ups. Next year ill reserve way ahead of time....

Friends of ours stay at Diamond M. We were hoping to stay there in 2010 but they were full. We were able to stay at Klondike in town, which was fine. They were just putting in a bathroom but already had a couple showers and a couple washers and dryers. We didn't spend much time at the campground as we were sightseeing and watching the dip netting.
