Never asked for any help here, but could use some now. My truck was stolen tonight. 04 Dodge CTD with all the upgrades for camper hauling. For the insurance claim, I need to quote the price for my 2004 Lance 815 Happi-Jac tie downs and wiring harness install. Of course my original receipt has it all included and doesn't break it down by item. Anyone have some similar quotes they can share. My summer is shot, no way to haul the camper or my boat. Damm I loved my paid for truck. I hope the bastards who stole it rot in hell. Funny thing is, 2 identical trucks were stolen from the same place at the same time...if you call that funny.
Thanks in advance

go to a retail website product page for items added/missing; print the page to submit with claim.

I heard that 4x4 pickups are the vehicle of choice for smuggling illegals across the border. They strip the seats and interior and bulk up with human cargo and cross in the sticks. Noticing your from Texas made me think of it.
Sorry for your trouble, good luck with the replacement process. At least your boat and TC are intact.

It makes the thought of having Lo Jack even more important these days.
Usually because of Lo Jack, the thief will leave the truck abandon for about 24 hours shortly after stealing it. IF the cops can find it in a vacant lot, or wherever it is left, they know it had a locating system on it, and they are not caught red handed with the stolen truck. Then they go back to it in about a week, and are fairly sure it is not going to be tracked.

Lot of 4x4's stolen in that area. My neighbor was up there last year, and had his diesel 4x4 stolen there. Police told him the same thing about it going south of the border quickly.

My Father in Law had his 1 ton truck stolen in Phoenix. They found it about 3 weeks later, the day before he was to pick up a new one. When it was recovered it had about 3,500 miles and it was obviously used to haul people and drugs. These criminals like HD trucks.

I really don't know why the Border Patrol doesn't check vehicles leaving the US for proper driver/vehicle ownership. That would stop a lot of stolen vehicles from being able to leave the US into Mexico.
All they would have to do is check the license plate number and VIN number on the truck to see that they both match the vehicle registration that driver is asked to show when stopped, and check that the name on the registration matches the driver license of the driver or passenger.
They wouldn't even have to check for stolen vehicle report. Just simply checking the plate, VIN, registration and driver license would make it impossible for most stolen vehicles to be able to leave the US in one piece, even if they haven't been reported stolen yet at the time the thief tries to cross the border with it.
They would have to cross at a non-controlled point to get the vehicle into Mexico, which means more risk than crossing into the US illegally, since the Border Patrol can notice vehicles crossing into Mexico easier than those crossing into the US, both at uncontrolled points.
