Some dogs will bite if aggravated by a person, some will bark constantly, and some owners will leave a mess everywhere. I was bitten by a dog when I was just walking on a beach back when I was 12. We have had a couple of dogs ourselves but I don't trust all dogs. DD has 2 English Mastiffs and her BIL has a great dane. Those are fun dogs. After seeing some of the messes left after dogs leave I can see an extra charge.

Never been charged extra for our Dachshund and have never been asked anything other than "Do you have a pet?"

It is not uncommon that owners do not pick up after their pets. It is also becoming more common for campgrounds to set aside enclosed space for dogs to run and play off lease.

Rather then say "No Pets" some campgrounds charge for your pets but really hope you will go somewhere else. I see dogs in restrooms, playrooms and even in the pools. I'm tired of all the barking and the mess left by the owners. So are the campground owners.

I have 4 dogs because I lost my house and my MH is now home and the dogs are my family. I worked hard to train them all not to bark and I have 3 exercise pens that I put together to make a little yard. I still walk them and always pick up. However, not all dog owners are as responsable as I am. My dogs are medium to small but I hear yapping all over the place. Unfortunately we all suffer for the poor behavior of some animal owners (I don't blame the dogs). I also have a book of pet friendly campgrounds and avoid those that charge extra and some limit the number, size and/or breed. I am soon heading out to workkamp at an animal sanctuary where almost everyone has a pet but they still expect your animals to behave. But realistically they charge extra because they know we will pay. We love our pets.

Hi All.
Its all about choices. Thats also part of: "The Beauty of Owning a Fully Self Contained RV". No one says you have to stay there, move on if you don't like it.
We have two "Yorkies", and they don't "Ever Bark", why, because its the way we trained our dogs. They also enjoy the quiteness also and just stare at other dogs that do bark.
We hardly ever use "Private Campgounds" anymore. As for many years now we do almost nothing but Boon-Docking. But should we need a Private Campground, with such a Rule, we don't mind. Its their Campground and their Rules. Live by it or move on.
Even doing almost nothing but Boon-Docking, we never are at a loss as to find a place to park for the night, no matter where we are traving through or going to.
Again" "Thats Part of The Beauty of Owning a Fully Self Contained RV". We live by a very simple set of rules: "We Treat Everyone as We Would Like To Be Treated".
If we feel you must "Blame Someone" for these "Type of Chargess", "Its because of "Pet Owners", who don't pick-up after their Pets or don't follow the Rules for Pets on a Leash, and let them run all of the Campgound, and dump where ever they please.
Again, its all about choices. "Don't like it, then move on.

I read all the comments and have heard people say "my dogs never bark because they trained" however the reality is that when they leave the dogs locked in the coach while they go sightseeing, the dogs start barking at the slightest provocation and the owners go into denial.
Granted there are a few that actually do behave but it's much more rare than the owners care to acknowledge.
Same with kids being allowed to run through others sites, it's "oh, aren't they having a good time, they're so cute".
So yes, do charge extra for dogs and kids. There are plenty of campgrounds that cater to families and pets.
