Our local Mercedes dealer just informed us that they have just become a sprinter dealer. Now we can take our sprinter there for service instead of driving a 400 mile round trip. Woo Hoo!!
The Sprinter has a Mercedes engine. While they formerly carried the Dodge badge, they were basically a Mercedes vehicle imported and renamed. They certainly will know the ins and outs.

Sprinters have more than a Mercedes engine, it is a Mercedes from bumper to bumper. Daimler-Benz owned Chrysler and still owns Freightliner, hence the Sprinters with Dodge and Freightliner badging in the US. Since Daimler sold Chrysler to Fiat, Spinters are now sold and serviced by selected Mercedes Dealers in the US as while as by Freightliner.
Many Dodge dealers still service Sprinters also, but limited (I think) to the older models that they once sold. I still get solicited regularly by two local Dodge dealers for me to bring in my Sprinter for service.
Some folks haven't followed the flight of the sprinter since even before their introduction to this country like some of us. The original point wasnot only can I get my new sprinter serviced where I get our other cars serviced but that MBUSA is starting to increase their dealer base. After seeing what the local dealer had to go thru to add the sprinter (and Smart Car) even though they have Sprinter dealerships in other states it will be some time before there will be adequate dealers in some areas.

Well that's true, but the caveat is they are not as good as the Mercedes Dealer. I have a 2007 Sprinter which was bought as a Dodge. I have always taken it to Dodge for service, but lately they seem less and less "Sprinter" friendly. I had the tranny fluid changed at 50K and it was just not the same as it was prior to the change. I suspected a less than Mercedes qualified fluid. After 25K miles I couldn't stand it any more. I took it to a Mercedes dealer and got true Mercedes fluids. I was stunned how smooth and back to normal the tranny ran.
I called the Dodge dealer for a specific part he said he couldn't find it and would call me back - 24 hours later they called back and said they couldn't find it. I called Mercedes and got the part and number while I was on the phone with the parts dept.
No, no more Dodge service for me. Think about it, why would Dodge keep inventory of Mercedes fluids for a limited number of Mercedes fluid requests.
I'm sure they just dumped in some generic tranny fluid and could care less how my vehicle ran.
Funny thing was both tranny changes cost the same amount.
Oh one last thing. At the Dodge dealer when you sit in the waiting room, you get old magazines and bad TV and two coin op candy machines.
In the Mercedes waiting room you get fresh pastries, several types of coffee, fresh fruit, baked cookies, ice bottled water, several newspapers, large screen LED TV.....and it's all free, well I know I'm paying for it in the long run, but still free at the counter.
