In our search for a Sprinter-based rv, we came across a used Phoenix Cruiser. 2006 on a Ford, less than 30,000 miles, extremely clean. Has 2 slide outs, one in the back which is a bed slide out. Asking $49,900.
I really wanted a Sprinter, but this seems very well maintained, and my husband is a big fan of the money we'll save.
Phoenix Cruiser makes a quality Class B+ motorhome. I just bought my second one. They are the easiest people to work with and will do anything you want to make you a happy customer.
Use their Forum to ask questions about their models.
If it's going to save you a bunch of money and you don't mind the Ford chassis you can buy a lot of fuel with the money you'll save. I think the price may be a wee bit high for an 06.

Choice of chassis is very much a personal choice.
In the case of the Sprinter, it is now decidedly a cult chassis that no longer have wide distribution or a mass market in the USA.
It is not the Renault or VW RV chassis yet, but it is getting there.
FWIW, they only sold 2,140 Sprinter vans in June, 2012.

9,276 Sprinters for half the year.

That is hardly enough to write home about.
all this is true hoewver the sprinter van is the rage for B manufacturers and some very unique class c. worldwide sprinters sell plenty.
the rest of the world uses mostly diesels so easy to get diesels serviced. we use mostly gas so diesel service less easy.

NewW, I'm not really sure of the point of your post? Unless it really was for 'entertainment purposes' only. The article you linked to shows that Mercedes had its best June ever, especially the Sprinter
Quote: On the van side, sales of Sprinter vans also saw best-ever sales in June with 2,140 – up 12% over last year and up 30.7% on a year-to-date basis.
Dakzuki, good to know that there might be a little more wriggle room. Not sure if I can overcome my Sprinter-love...but my first car was a Ford Fairlane that I bought for $50 and ran for two years so I guess Ford is okay
Keelhauler, thanks, I joined the forum and look forward to reading it.
Midnightsadie, thanks, I found Ron's posts and am reading through them. He's almost got me convinced! I know that 20mpg is awesome, but the Sprinter I am looking for will probably get closer to 15 as it is heavier than yours. Still good though!
Techdude, sounds like you really use yours! Sounds easy to maintain. Do you change your own oil? Can you tell me roughly what your mpg is? I would expect 8-10 and I would be happy with that for the power I would get

If you want to see an orphaned vehicle wait till you see what happens to the E series when the Transit comes on the market. Expect all development on the E series to stop cold.
