I am contemplating buying a laredo and having a hitch welded on to triple tow a fishing boat. I realise the manufacturer wil void the frame warranty etc. The only two 5ers I can find that come with factory installed hitches are newway and excel. I realise no one can say yah go ahead for fear of liability but here in south dakota fishing area almost every 5er tows a 4-5,000 boat along behind as long as total lenght is 80 or less. Anyone done this with a Laredo? Any thoughts other than the obvious? thanks for you experiences tom

Take your RV to a good welding hitch shop and see what they can do to the frame to install a hitch. Just because everyone else does it doesn't mean it's a good thing to do to a RV frame.

Now the legal language..."Don't do it for Gods sake".

Cardinal and Blue Ridge from Forest River have factory mounted 2" receiver hitches.......

I have a customer that tows a 39' Cardinal and a trailer with his golf cart on it to Myrtle Beach several times a year.

I have a 2003 Laredo 29BH. A friend of mine who is a very good fabricator and welder made a receiver hitch for my trailer. I have used it to tow my 2 jetskis without a problem for thousands of miles around Michigan. It works great. The worst part of the whole setup is the extra length for gas stations, etc. and not being able to back up easily.

A boat behind a 5er is a double tow set up or a three vehicle combination as DOT calls it. RV info websites get this point confused.

Many folks tow three trailers (tripple tow) in my state and states around us.

I double towed for eight years with a 2500 chevy/7200 lb 5th wheel trailer with a 3400 lb boat bringing up the rear.

As was mentioned I had a custom reciever hitch fabricated and welded to the trailers main frame rails and crossmembers.

Only your trailer manufacturer can tell you if they will void the frame warranty with a hitch on the rear. Some will and some won't.
