I have an EAZ-Lift 1,000#/10,000# hitch with the round spring bars. The hitch has grease zerks and manufacturer recommends a fiber wheel bearing grease to be used.
I have heard most people run them dry because they would rather not deal with the mess. I find my set-up way too noisy to do that. I really don't want to deal with the mess of grease either, especially when the hitch and is not in use.
I tried the Liquid Wrench Chain Lube which is clear and is not messy to deal with. Seems to have taken all of the noise out of the hitch. Is there a better product out there that I should be using that is not messy?

I use a teflon dry lube designed for hitches. You can get it at RV supply or auto supply....look for the words teflon and dry lube. No mess and it holds up well in weather. Just a little goes a long way.

When ever your hitch or bars make noise, there is friction causing that noise and that means there is WEAR going on. Lubrication stops WEAR. When I had a trailer a few years ago I used grease and put plastic bags around the greased parts when they were unhitched. I now use grease on the ball of my tow bar when I tow my CRV. Your choice but lubrication is the best choice in my opinion.

I have this hitch and don't remember seeing any zerk fittings. Guess I will have to go look for them now.

I bring a standard grease gun with me camping and keep it in a plastic bag. I use the grease gun to grease the hitch ball, mini balls for the sway bars, and I grease the trunnion pockets. I use a paper towel to smear it around on the balls. After I unhitch I clean the grease off all the contacts with a standard paper towel. Takes me just a few minutes and I am all done.
This is why I like friction sway control over an integrated sway control such as a equal-i-zer or Dual Cam. Any time friction is present there is wear. I prefer the friction to happen in the sway bar and not on my very important hitch parts. To each his own though.
Grease your hitch! I experienced a hitch head failure and can attest to what happens when a hitch is not greased.
Thanks!

I have the same hitch and I use marine grease in a grease gun. No problems and not a mess.

Thanks for the input everyone. I did break down and pick up a mini grease gun and a small plastic tote to store it in. I really like the idea of the Teflon Dry Lube though.
Thanks again!

I also have a box of those nitril rubber gloves along to wear when dumping sewer or greasing the hitch and trunions.
I use the lithium grease and put a big gob of grease right on top of the ball. When the hitch goes down it spreads it out. Also use the grease on all moving parts of the trunions. Stops the noise and doesn't wear as much. Reese does recommend greasing all moving parts on the trunion dual cam.

I always use a little bit of wheel bearing grease to lube the ball and the trunnions where the WD bars go into the hitch head. anyone ever see a hitch ball or WD head that didn`t use any type of lubricant? not good!
