I agree that it is not a great idea to give up your best spots. They are public, so let everyone find them on their own. Finding the spot is part of the fun.

I didn't want to tell him, but 10 seconds of the bare naked choke hold convinced me otherwise.

The places we share on our website are 100% National/State/County designated camping areas. Spots we don't share are publicly (BLM) or privately (via permission access) found spots.

You could share it by private message rather than bill boarding it. wouldn't that be better?

Absolutely. This way, you've already vetted the recipient as "like brethren" and a trusted recipient / source of precious info, reciprocating relationship.

When I was on the island of Anguilla (one of the most expensive real estate locales in the Caribbean) and visited Shoal Bay West (that huge mansion he had {past tense}) there, believe me, he don't need no gritty boondockin' intel

Thanks FishPoet! I'd never have known about the Goat Canyon Trestle otherwise, i apprecited that tip. And yes, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't camp and tell. Personally I've found the majority don't go to the secret spots anyway, only the very motivated. Also, I figure it's the propagation of side by sides and quads that give vast numbers of people access to areas that were previously hard to get to and less known. That and google earth. I'm not against them at all having some myself, it's just something we've noticed and talked about many times at the Whazoo Round Table.

I can abide by each individual having their own position on this subject. But the "I will not share" group had better not ever be seen at a spot shared to them by someone else. LOL! What I find interesting is that members of a public forum which is devoted to sharing information would have a "no sharing" attitude. Just comes across as I'm here for what I can get not what I can give.

Super_Dave, the question is where do we draw the line. Can I share your money and toys for instance? How about that nice boat in your signature?

Can you use any poorer of an analogy to try to make your point.

We share information on this forum. That is where the line is drawn. Except for super secret campsites and then the selfish move the line a bit to justify not sharing information.

Some how, I doubt it would matter to you how I made my point. I'm pretty sure nobody is going to change their mind.

Sharing information to the broad audiance of the internet is not always a good thing. Say for example, I find(and have found) a quirk in the system a music venue box office uses to sell tickets to events. Im garuenteed fine seats for any show I wish to attend. If I broadcast his secret then I loose my edge, no more great seats for me and my family. All I've managed to accomplish is destroying the conditions that made my life a little better by bringing everyone into the game. This is the fear of sharing "secret " spots on the net. Everyone finds out and desends on the spot en masse and its not secret , what made it special in the first place has gone, trampled under the feet of the internet zombies.
Here might be a better analogy, next time you have a family event , gradation party for example, in your back yard, issue an open invite on the internet. After your lawn wears away and toilets backup, rethink the advantages of sharing everything with strangers on the net.
Many of us have TCs to get away from it all, why try to bring it all with you?
