Padre Island National Seashore has 60 miles of open beach camping. Of course, 55+ miles of that requires 4X4. We like to camp 55-58 miles down, but it is really camping; no facilities, but usually no one within sight of your campsite. You access it SE of Corpus; you can't get there from S. Padre unless you're in a boat.

It really depends on conditions, but if you want to camp right on the beach the first five miles is open to 2WD and usually at least the first two miles has good packed sand. Info on camping at Padre Island National Seashore is at Padre Island
Can you be more specific when you say we can access beach camping SE of Padre? DH wants to give it a try but wants specifics thanks for any help you can give
You need to be very careful......beach conditions can and will change in a heartbeat. Towing a MH off the beach would be a very expensive deal if even possible.
Besides that the sand and salt will get in places you never dreamed.
BTW I was born and raised in Corpus Christi and have had some great times fishing and camping on the island, just wouldn't do it in a MH. There are campgrounds on the island that are not on the beach.
