..Thanks for the info and the link...hey, if I could save some money, I'd gladly do it...not much into HBO, Showtime and all that, more the Starz with Gunsmoke, Rawhide, that type of thing...I do like my sports though...can't help myself, I've tried to quit, but catch myself turning the TV on and scanning channels looking for a baseball game, college football, pro football and college basketball...I was afflicted at an early age, and as far as I know, at this time, there is no cure...no matter what anyone say's...there ain't no cure

My favorite quote about guys and the remote is: "It isn't what's on tv, it's what else is on TV!"
Wouldn't it be nice if the satellite companies allowed us to choose our own channel lineup at reasonable cost? That was another one of my beefs. When I had satellite most of the channels were wasted since I never watch sports, sitcoms, religious programming or the like. I'm mostly interested in news, history, science, or perhaps a movie once in a while.
FWIW, I posed that question to a DirecTV rep and was informed that it IS possible to customize you own channel lineup for a price. I believe she mentioned $25/mo for each personally selected channel. OUCH!! Maybe someday they'll allow their customers to eliminate those wasted programs and purchase only those they're interested in for a logical price. I would probably re-initiate my DirecTV service in that scenario .

The problem isn't with the satellite or cable companies.
It's with companies like Viacom and ABC/Disney. They insist that the satellite companies "Take all of their channels" or they're not going to get any. That's why there are so many worthless channels in their lineups.
Some people on the satellite TV forums think that if you were able to customize your own channel lineup, the final cost would be about the same as the present packages.

The only way we get networks is through DirecTV. Batwing no workee in the hills west of Chattanooga. The only thing I can pick up on the batwing is five religious beg-a-thon stations.
