Hi,

I have tried getting information from Pacific Coachworks on installation of a solar panel on our Tango 224 RB trailer (2 years old). However they do not return phone calls or emails. So I'm hoping there are some Tango owners here that can help.

Most importantly, I'm trying to find information on the wiring on the Tango for connecting a solar panel. I don't see any connectors on the roof of the trailer, however I do see dead ended electrical lines near the battery on the hitch. So I assume those will likely be my feed to the batteries once the panel is installed.

Anyone here installed a solar panel on their Tango?

Thanks,

Peter

FYI, Pacific Coachworks used to be right at the top of the best of the best for customer service, being helpful and also for building a quality RV.

Unfortunately the original owners ran into some business challenges I think it was in 2009. Around late 2009 or maybe in 2010, they were bought out by a company I forget the name of right now. The original owners were shown the outside of the door, unfortunately and are no longer with the company that they started.

Sadly, since this happened, Pacific Coachworks has severely spiraled downhill in many different ways, customer service being one of them.

I have been in contact with them myself over the past couple years and their responses to customer queries has been dismally pathetic at best.

They totally ruined a good website. Last time I was there it was revamped for the much worse, they eliminated all the good information it once had and they basically just ruined the site. I contacted them a few times about the website but all I ever got was a lame generic response from them.

They simply don't give a flying flip about customers or potential customers, or helping out anyone who owns their product.

There is a bunch more things about the company that I won't mention, but it is less than positive or flattering to the new owners as a whole.

I wouldn't count on getting any kind of service from them.

I was very deeply saddened to learn of the departure of the original founders of the company. They were awesome people. I have corresponded with both of them.

And yeah, I still want a Tango. But it will be a 2010 or prior.

Thanks for the info Bob and enlightening me on why I'm not getting a response from PC. Real shame. One of the big reasons I purchased the Tango was because of all the "great customer service" comments I read on forums, etc.

Found this article Pacific Coachworks Restructuring. Looks like they have big plans to expand, but, based on my experience, at the expense of customer service.

Still leaves me having to guess what to do about installing a solar panel.

Many manufacturers won't give out advice on installing aftermarket items because they don't want to assume any liability if the project goes sour due to bad advice so they just take the position of not giving any advice. I agree it would be nice to hear from them but did you consider that maybe they don't have an answer for you?

Thanks B.O.

Agree on the fact that manufacturers would be hesitant about giving advice on installing aftermarket items. But when they say a trailer is "solar panel" ready, and don't provide any schematics or details, that indicates a lack of product/documentation support. And more so, responding to an email or a voice mail, even without having an "answer", should be the most basic practice if one cares about providing customer service.
