Went to Flying J to get some DEF at the pump. They have a combined pump with both DEF and diesel.
Swipe my card, go through the menu--one selection was Tractor fuel or Reefer fuel--I selected tractor.
It then said "remove nozzle" so I grabbed the DEF nozzle and hit the DEF button. It then said "replace nozzle" which I did. Then it said "remove nozzle"---then replace, remove, replace.
Got on the phone. They didn't know what was up, said come in to pay.
I'm wondering if I did something wrong? Do you have to get diesel first? I followed the directions on the pump for DEF.
Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.

Yeah, well $2.59 a gallon vs. $4.79 a gallon. Pick your issues.
I got about 10 gallons, so saved about $22.00

Most of the truck stops are like that, Joe public has to go inside and tell them how much you want to spend. Then you can fuel up and if you spend less they credit your card then charge the correct amount. I send the wife in as soon as we can see what pump number we will be using. She tells them $150 and when it says lift handle I fuel up and when I finish I call her and let the phone ring twice then hang up so she knows I am done and can get a reciept for the correct amount. Once you get a system down the truck stops are a good way to go. Most have a RV frequent fueler program that will save .03 per gallon.

The pumps have both DEF and diesel. One hose for each. The diesel has a huge nossel--on the right side of the pump. The DEF is on the left with a small, say 5/8" nozzel, on the left.
The DEF nozzel is enclosed under a cover---probably to protect it from freezing.
