Where ever the floor feels soft drill some holes and spray the foam in. When it expands it will come out of the holes until it drys. Where ever you put it in should feel just like the orig floor. What comes out of the holes just trim off and put what ever carpet you are going to use. Remember use a real good pad.

I too had an 86 itasca and also had soft floors. i cut carpet out along all edges and saved it for templates ( many pieces). then i nailed i think 3/8" plywood over existing floor then replaced carpet cut to templates. looked way way better when done and soft floor was gone.

If the floor is soft on your year model winne/Itasca and there is NO evidence of water intrusion, the odds are sometime over the years the exhaust system leaked and the hot air melted the insulation in the floor. Common problem on Winne/Itasca products back then from when Chevy exhaust system mufflers got old and leaked hot exhaust straight up onto the floor. It melted the styrofoam insulation and once that happened, there was NO support between the floor joists. Doug

Thanks Guys!
I will be pulling up the rest of the carpet in the next day or two. Still not exactly sure what my wife is going to want for a floor covering, although Its better for me if I just install whatever she chooses.
I'll keep you guys up with how this goes. I'm thinking of drilling several holes in a few area's, doing the expanding foam, and than maybe putting some "1/4 hardboard down over it all when done?? Not sure yet.
Thank You!

Hey Fuzzy,
Do you remember what kind of foam you used to do yours? There are so many different kinds that I'm not sure what to get. Low expansion, high expansion, crack fill, insulation, doors and windows, ect. You get the idea.
I'd also like to know what size holes you drilled and how close together you did it. Did you put the spray foam above the Styrofoam and below the upper layer of plywood?
Could you run me down the exact specifics? I know I could dive in and just get started and adjust what I do depending on what happens, but doing what someone else has already done and had success with would be the smarter way to do it I think.
Thanks very much for your time!

I don't remember what type of foam it was but I think itcame in a Yellow can with a nozzel attached. I drilled holes just bigger than the nozzel. When you spray it in the holes it will expandand search out every nook and cranny and then will ooze up out of the holes. It would be wise to make sure you locate the deges of the soft floor and drill holes there also so you know when the foam has reached the edge of the softness.

Thanks Fuzzy very much! I especially like the tip about drilling holes at the edge of the soft spot so you know when its all filled up.
Thank you!
