I dont think I can increase the weights on the front...other than swapping my lovely, petite wife for a bull dozer HA HA! And that will help only if she is riding shotgun ! ROTFL
sorry....ah...um....jut gotta make a poor joke sometimes........
no I dont have airbags in the rear. The rear does not look too low.
MikeRP wrote: Sometimes you need to get more weight on the front axle. Do you have air bags in the rear? If you might try increasing the air pressure.
Also look seriously how you are loaded. Maybe move weight forward.

Hmmm... thanks for the tip. I will try to have the tire guys take a look at the fronts. From the outside they look like they are in pretty good shape. Not too old either... I think they are 4-5 years old. The rears were 12 years old and I got them swapped out quickly, upon buying the MH.
MrWizard wrote: i had a similar issue once before on a previous MH
turned out to be the tires
one front tire the tread was separating from the carcass
there was no sign of exterior damage not a retread but it wasn't stabile and driving it was what i call squirrelly
this problem popped up after i owned it and drove it, making it a little easier to diagnose

ok folks, looks like the general consensus is to get a full 4 wheel alignment done.
I think that is in my mind too. Tomorrow morning, when I go get the MH back from the shop...I will try to see if someone nearby (maybe Mccarthy's) has some time.
By the way, I am in conversation with the previous owner. ...a nice guy and a mechanic to boot too. I described the repair shop story to him and he thinks the repair shop guys are total jerks. He says they dont know how to wipe their a$$! HA HA...not my words, mind you :-)
I think he is ticked off because they removed the OEM steering damper for testing. Also he swears by the safety-steer system he got installed....http://www.safe-t-plus.com
I suspect it instead...maybe we should take it off just as an experiment.

ok thanks for the recommendation. Have you used them for alighment?
So far I have used them for alignment and inspections and tires. They have a lot of room and it's an easy in and out. You will need to make an appointment for the alignment. Call Brian Budd 703.368.9288 to schedule.

Toe-out tends to make wantder worse.
Try increasing camber.
The folks that said to get a good alignment are correct. Just tell the truck shop you take it to your problems.
That said some motor homes just wander more than others for a variety of reasons. This is something to look for before you buy. On a shorter coach like yours though, you should be able to get it fixed. I spent a year and a half getting my old GMC to stear well. I basicaly replaced the whole front end. Your coach is way simpler than a GMC though. So should be fixable. If not, Ebay.

Whoops I said the opposite. Toe - out tends to improve wander. Sorry. Tow in tends to make it worse.

I always thought increasing toe in reduced wandering.

Weights? Well I have not got around to doing that --yet. I asked the local county dump last week.... they said they can do it...for 10 bucks.
Sorry, without weights, you do NOT know that your tire pressure is correct!
The correct PSI for our Michelin tires is 70 or 110! HUGE difference, depending on weight.

Ultimately most shops instinctively look for worn loose components, but rarely isolate tight ones. Anything that binds will make a coach go every which way but straight.
