I have used the GEO method for about three years, it has worked well for me. I have bought 'White King' brand powdered water softener at Kroger stores (Smiths, Fred Meyer) and at Winco stores.

Try one of the "super-size" *brand name* supermarkets.

Many stores don't carry water softener/s if there is no demand (hard water) in the area.
Also, Wally usually doesn't carry items that aren't high demand.

That applied to my area -
Calgon *powder* seems to have disappeared - but have found the *liquid* variety in the laundry / detergent aisle of the above.

If you can't find it - try one of the suggested alternatives.
(See how well a small amount mixes with water - tried White King once, IMO - it didn't do as well as Calgon).

I can't find the powder either here in WI. So, I've been using the liquid Calgon, but it's pricey. Hope to get some good suggestions as well.

Search in the laundry softener aisle.

Same here. How much of the liquid do you use at a time?

We're using 2 cups like the Geo Method states to use. We have NO odors and the sensors are working well...so far. I would just like to find the powder, as at this point, we only get 2.5 uses out of a bottle. It's not a very large bottle.

I feel like we're taking better care of our tanks. When we had our 5er, the blue stuff never really worked. But, because of these forums, we're much more informed.
