We are making the trip to Alaska from Kansas in 2013. The route I have planned is over 10,000 miles, mostly wondering up and back in the mountains. Does anyone have any RV friendly locations for a basic oil and filter change for a W22 gas chassis with an 8.1L Vortec engine while we are in Anchorage. We will be towing a Jeep Grand Cherokee so I am thinking a halfway oil change will be a good idea.
Thanks in advance for replies and suggestions.

Some Ford dealers won't do it unless the RV will it inside the service bay. So call around and ask...the oil changes are usually cheaper at a dealer.

They did my Ford cruise control recall work while I was in AK, also an oil change. No problems.

Thanks for the response.
Am I correct in assuming that all of the Ford Dealers listed in Fordsooperduty reply will service a GM Vortec and have the correct filters?

Alaska Sales and Service is the main GM dealer. They are located right as you come into town, just before the Glenn Hwy turns into the Seward Hwy. They can handle a rig that size, but you might want to call them to make sure they service RV's. I know the parking lot, bay doors and bays are big enough. Had my '04 Denali serviced there until I bought my '09 Duramax from them.

I would also HIGHLY recommend Mobile Trailer Supply down on Latouche St. Very easy to get to, and Ray and Liza are the BEST! You will get honest service and honest pricing.

A&M RV Center is NOT known for their honesty. I have dealt with them several times, and EVERY time was not a good experience. The worst was them trying to sell a consignment RV for about $5K more than the consignment contract listed... and NOT telling the owner about the price hike, so they could pocket the difference.

If you can't get in with Mobile RV, then try Karen's....

PS - Glad to see another 'Cat fan! KSU Alumni 1996... Everyone from grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins have attended K-State. I am actually the ONLY girl who didn't stay in Boyd Hall. I was assigned to West Hall...

Deans Automotive on East 7th were reputable as I knew friends' vehicles were taken there as they work on motorhomes, the Johnson's Tire location on 32nd-Denali St. I have not heard good reviews on the other hand....

There are so many auto repair shop locations in Anchorage to choose from for an oil change that would suffice, as I would think anywhere on the north side of town (as you are arriving in Anchorage) would be the most friendly of locations as noted by the posted messages....

A friend of mine that works at a auto repair and muffler shop off of Old Seward and 66th Ave. is not the most friendly of locations, nor is the transmission shop my other friend owns at 59th Ave. and Arctic Blvd., as that place there is real congested.

Ii have been to Alaska SAles and Service a few times for a "labor only" oil change on my pickup. Pretty fast and cheap---like $20---few years ago.

Don't know about the motorhome.

Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.
