I have posted this in another forum but am not getting much feedback.
Has anyone had any success in overriding the pressure required to fill your tanks from the city fill water port? That is the only port available on our TT, otherwise we must bring containers of water (muddy mess) into the trailer, balance the couch (no small issue) then fill. We could run a long hose from inside the trailer to the outside but as one member points out that would seriously diminish the suction and we would not be able to use any water in the trailer while filling. Would love to know what kind of pump would be required to pump enough pressure to overcome the city fill check valve. We dry camp solely and need to figure this out. Most other campers have figured out great systems for gravity filling with pumps but before we buy a pump we want to know how strong it needs to be. Would have loved a heads up about this during our orientation!

Can't really tell what you are talking about I assume you have a TT with a city water connection only and no gravity fill for the freshwater tank. If that is the case you simply need to use your winterization connection to suck water from your portable container using your on board water pump to fill the fresh water tank. No special rigging or seperate pump needed

I would imagine that just a few feet of lifting up a water container with a hose in it would allow the water to flow into your tank. Just make sure your onboard water pump is not on, and a tap is open with nothing coming out.
Fill your water hose line, put one end in your water container, screw the other end onto your RV, then lift up the water container and see how long it takes to get five gallons in. The higher the lift, the faster it will flow into your tank.

In order to use the winterization hose we have to do all the switching from inside there- is no access from the outside. So currently we bring the containers into the TT and siphon from there but it is a muddy mess and you can't use the TT water system while doing this. Would take 20 feet of hose to keep the tanks outside. We are hoping to purchase a separate pump to use to force water in but wanted to make sure we knew what kind of pump to get to overcome the check valve.

There is a check valve in the city water port to keep the tanks pressurized so gravity doesn't work. Wish it did!

What make and model is your TT? Maybe someone knowing that has had experience with filling the tank. You have to be doing something wrong. Are you sure there is no gravity fill port? Do you have the owners manual? It may actually have directions for filling the tank.

No gravity port on the Spree 220. We rewatched the video that I made of the orientation many times. We didn't know enough at the time when the technician mentioned that there wasn't a gravity fill model on this one to have that raise any questions. This is our first TT. The owners manual does have directions for filling the tank from inside the trailer. We can do it that way but as I said it is a muddy mess. We are wanting to pump water from outside the trailer through the city connection.
