Generally not in the water separator, but there is always invisible water (emulsified in the fuel in small amounts) in diesel...

In the least, it is a very easy process to check/drain on my Ford.

Only once in three years, drained and yup - little beads of water in it. Happened not long after I bought it - had to call the dealer to find the drain.

At least this adventure flew off the drawing board and running out of fuel is not as dangerous!
