If you stay in a hotel what do you do with your cat. Leave it in the (our case) truck or take it into the room with you and pay the extra. Been making the 930 mile trip to FL each winter and home in the spring non stop. Would like to make it a two day trip, just not sure what to do with the cat. I really think she would be ok in the truck as that is not a hot time of the year (Oct.)

I would take the cat in with me. You can find pet friendly hotels that do not charge a fee.

I think most do charge a fee. I was just looking up pet friendly hotels in St. George Utah for my brother and only saw 1 or 2 that didn't mention a fee. But I must say I was pleasantly surprised by all the hotels that allow pets now.
I would take the cat in with me too.

If you're inside, the cat should be inside. Things happen to vehicles and going off to bed and leaving her in the vehicle through the night just isn't responsible.
A year or so back, there was a bunch of idiots that left their van full of show dogs on the street in Los Angeles over night. Naturally the van was broken into, all the dogs (locked in crates and helpless to defend themselves) were stolen and the idiots whined and cried like they shouldn't have known that they were leaving those dogs in a dangerous situation. Amazingly they got them all back, but many horrible things could have happened.
When you travel, unless you do a whole lot of research, you really don't know where you are when you stop, or who is around. Someone smashes a window in the wee hours and kitty will vanish. Not worth the few dollars you might save.

If I need a place away from our Eagle, I stay at a Motel 6. They don't charge for pets. However if you want, or need a nicer place to stay, Motel 6 Suites charge $15.00 per pet (if I remember correctly).

Btw If you don't have an internet connection while traveling. Stop by a Motel 6 and pick up a free booklet that not only lists the Motel 6's in the country, but maps to the locations as well.

Bringing the Mom-in-Law cross country with 22 pound furry kid, wife found a web site that has "pet friendly" hotels. Wish I would of thought of it.

The cat should definitely go inside with you, but keep in mind the maids come in the morning and could let the cat out. We request no maid service....they tend to leave the door open while they are cleaning.

We always put out the Do NOT Disturb sign when we brought our cat. She would sleep in her carrier most of the time.
