In my pickup which has a Ford 5.4l V-8 I use full synthetic and practice about a 6,000 mile intervals. Over 120k miles and still runs like brand new. So with my MH being a Ford v-10 I have been using full synthetic as well at about the same frequency. But have read posts on here that some folks use a 15k mile frequency or once/year. Is my frequency too often? Am I wasting money? I usually like to err on the side of caution but at the same time, larger engines typically need lest frequency than smaller ones. Knowing I will get a lot of opinions, what frequency is right for a v-10 using full synthetic?
First of all, if the engine is still under the manufacturer's warranty, I would follow those interval requirements. Once out of warranty, it becomes more subjective.
What does the manufacturer specify for your chassis? I use Mobil-1 in both my Jeep and Miata and go 7,500 miles between changes. Once the warranty expires, I plan to extend that to 10,000, with an oil analysis at the 10,000 mark the first time. That'll tell me if I'm ok or not for the future. I do put a lot of miles on, so 10,000 still will net me 2 - 3 changes per year.....

Yes they are referring to diesels.. How much oil does the engine have at full??(w/filter) Most diesels start around 18 quart and go up from there, so you see why they can go longer, plus there oil has a different make up..
You could take a sample and have it tested and see if you could be on the right track or need to change your schedule..Mike M..
