Just received my renewal for my Good Sam/GMAC motor home/auto insurance. The rate for the next policy year went up $1200!!No accidents. No addreass change. Nothing changed!! When I called they just said that there was a rate increase, and that's the rate!
An increase of $1200 for a year- I don't think so!!
That's what I get for being a 'Valued Customer' as printed on the top of the billing page. I hate to see what the rate increase will be for those that are NOT valued customers!
Searching for a new company now.

That's what shopping is about.
Good Sam quote is $608 higher than current policy for less coverage. I get quotes every couple years close to renewal. Noone has beat Geico so far. My rates with Geico has gone up $5 in 3 years. Just like to keep them on their toes.

Progressive has increased ours "progressively" each year for the past 5 years. Went with Allied this year.
I think insurance companies are getting hit hard this past couple of years with the fires and floods and believe they need to "spread the wealth" to make up the difference.
If you can't afford to stay in business as an insurance company then it is time to get out of business and quit gouging us that aren't making claims!

Switched to Farmers 2 years ago for all of my vehicular (car, truck and TT), insurance and saved $595 a year over Geico and Geico was way cheaper than Good Sam. I just do not understand why anyone does business with them (GS or Geico for that matter).

It's not right and I don't think it's fair that insurance companies will determine your rates based on your credit score, but sometimes they do. Have you don't something to lower your credit score? Every time you apply for something, it's a "hit" on your credit score. And there's a point where too many credit cards (even if you've got a zero balance on them) is worse than having no credit cards at all as far as your credit goes. It's just a thought?
Applied for any new loans or credit cards lately? If so, that "might" explain one reason for such an increase.
