Thanks to all. I had already decided to pick up another Champion. $300 against $900 for something I will rarely use. When I do it will be in a Walmart parking lot or truck stop. The double Hondas don't appeal to me much as that means two units to maintain instead of one.
Friend of mine has a Champion 5000. Last time he flashed that thing up we had to move over 5 campsites just to hear ourselves think! Then there was the dirty looks from the neighbors.
Last year I told him to leave his OFF. We kept our batteries charged on both his 5'ver and my TT with my single 2000 Honda. And we could barely hear it run. OK, no AC, but we were there to fish, not get cozy!
I'll take 2 Hondas any day. 46 pounds each, easy to lift and carry. A crane to lift the Champion into the truck bed.... no thanks.

I have owned a Champion 3500 and am well aware of the weight (I can still load it by myself) and the noise (I don't run it in campgrounds). However, I don't see a better bang for the buck than the Champion 3500. (I am not familiar with the 5,000).
There are few things that I have been able to own the best of and that is what I consider the Honda 2000i. We are not allowed to market on the forum so I will have to disregard the offers to trade or sell.
I have one of each. The Champion is loud and quits now and then, but will run the air conditioner at most altitudes. The Honda only at lower altitudes. Both are worth about what I paid for them.
