Hi everyone, looking for some help with some rewiring in our TT.
I bought a new AC/DC 13" LED TV that I want to install in our trailer. And of course the location of the current 12 volt/TV antenna plate is on the other side of the trailer (and in the ceiling) from where we want to put the TV. Hope this makes sense!!
I would like to split the 12 volt/TV antenna and run an extension to the new location without doing to much damage. I am trying to avoid running wires through the ceiling.
Has anyone does this before or have any ideas of how I might go about it?
If you don't want to drill a new hole in the roof or fish the coax through the ceiling (not too hard to do), then I would suggest just extending the coax, running it across the ceiling and down the wall to wherever you want. Then cover it with a surface mount wire chase (available at Home Depot, etc.). If done right, it will be a pretty clean look that is unlikely to be noticed. You could even run a matching section of cable chase (with nothing inside it) straight down the other wall...just for looks.
If you need a 12 volt line for the TV, perhaps you can tap into a nearby lighting circuit.

on edit; Don't try to split the coaxial line. Just extend it with appropriate connectors
You might consider going down instead of up. For myself, I would run it down whatever cabinetry was there, drill a hole small enough to pass the wires through the floor, run across underneath and pop back up on the other side, come up through the cabinets and install an outlet or whatever will make it look good there. I've used wire loom and rubberized P-hangers to channel the wires underneath the frame.
Some great ideas, going down rather then up and not hacking into the coaxial is something I didn't think of. Another project to keep our home on wheels more comfy!
Someone mentioned this already but using the WIREMOLD products from LOWES looks neat if put in properly. You can also paint to change the decor. The ones I use are called CORDMATE II Wire management kit Part number C210 and has what you need to run about 12-feet. inexpensive so buy two packages if you need to go farther..
