We are looking at bumper pull toy haulers to replace the current TT. We have pretty much settled on the two mentioned in the title (Fun Finder XTRA 276 or XLR 27HFS) but would really like to hear from some owners of these models. I have read the Cruiser (Fun Finder) and Forest River (XLR) forums but would really like to learn more from a trusted and less biased website. Do any RV.net users own these models? If so, what are your opinions? Your help would be much appreciated.

I was looking at both as well and went with the 27HFS early in the year. They were mostly identical. My deciding factor on the 27HFS was (not available on the FF):
* Built in Generator
* Fuel Station

If you do any dry camping being able to switch on the generator from inside with a button is huge.

Both are similar build quality from what I could see. Meaning, they are pretty cheap campers.

Both are annoying with the hallway going through the bathroom...

Only thing I really don't like about the XLR is the fresh water tank is small for dry camping (which we do a lot of with myself, wife and two kids).

Now, if I had to do it again I wish I had gone to a little larger trailer that can carry more weight, bigger fresh water tanks, etc. We were trying to stay under 30' overall to fit into some state parks. But, honestly I think we would have gotten by with a 32' overall just as easily.

Thank you Gary for your reply. The inviting item to us about the floor plan is the relatively lightweight design of both and am planning on pulling with my current truck at this time. What are you pulling with?

Our children are grown and the bathroom location should not be a problem but I can sure see where that might not be the best plan with kids.

Do you have the second walk thru door into the garage area? What are your thoughts there?

I tow with a Dodge 3500 DRW so weight wasn't a factor in our search. Length (or lack there of) was what we were looking for.

We don't have the rear door. We would have ordered it if we hadn't purchased one off a lot that was a good deal. Our kids are young enough that it doesn't matter, but it would be nice to have that rear door. Especially with that middle bathroom. It gives a way for someone in the back to get out without waiting for someone in the bathroom. It's a shame that they didn't do like some other toy haulers where they put the hallway on the side (i.e. Torque TQ271).

RE: the build quality. The XLR is no better nor worse than others. It's just the state of toy haulers where they try to keep the price down. Like all campers they will do something stupid when building it somewhere... i.e. the generator switch was underneath the front bed and the dealer had to relocate it...

I got my xt276 this spring. So far with the limited number of times have been able to go out on the road with it, I could not be more pleased!!
Everything works exactly like it should, it tows as if it's not even behind me and for the money, it is a great buy IMHO.

Thank you for the replies. I am really teetering on which. We are planning on looking at both next weekend and deciding from there. Both units seem to be quite similar but with subtle differences. I also know I will be pushing my F150 to it's max tow and am planning on upgrading my TV in a year or so. Midwest towing has less hills and I feel it will work until I upgrade providing I am not planning a trip to the mountains.

We still pondering. We can get a better deal on the XLR and felt like it was a little better built, but there are lot of things about the Fun Finder we like better.
XLR - fuel station, no beaver tail gives more flat space in the garage area, floor seems more solid but taller 11'.
Fun Finder - Better windows on awning side, Happy Jack bed included and shorter 10'2", floor seems spongy.

The XLR is about $2000 cheaper but a little heavier to pull. I wish I had more truck.
