I have a 2005 Fleetwood Revolution LE 40' motorhome with 2 Coleman AC Units. I am having to replace the bedroom unit and ran into this issue. The 2 units are zoned for the bedroom/ bathroom area and the living area respectively. The repairman, who does excellent work, is telling me that the ducts should be connected allowing the rear unit to push to the front and vice versa. Can't seem to find anything on line to decide which way to go. It does appear that from the rear return, the duct is connected to the front but must be blocked off for some reason. Any suggestions?

I would leave them separate. They're that way for a reason for example suppose you have to hook up to 30 amp you won't be able to run both and with that said it won't cool the unit down very well on one unit. I believe that all ducted units with 2 ac units are separate.
Hope this make sense.... Jim

Mine is connected. However, I do not see any harm in having them separated.

I have adjustable vents that I can adjust if I so desire, to regulate the flow.

Yep... my ducts are connected. I like it that way so that, if I need to turn one off to get some quiet for phone calls, there is still some air flowing until I turn it back on.

I also like them connected for sound control. For example, when driving with roof air on, we close off the vents in the bedroom/bath area and shut the door to that section. The ducts send the cool air from the rear AC unit to the front zone, and it is much quieter as you run on down the road...

Ducts connected, gives you maximum flexibility. A win/win...

Best of luck, be safe, have fun,

Newmar has them connected and it gives a lot of flexibility in how you want to cool.

Mine are also connected and I like the flexibility to run the back one when watching the living room TV and the front one when we sleep.

Mine are connected but very inefficient. I pulled the diffuser plate from the bottom of the rear AC to allow it to blow directly down but left the front intact. This gives me at least twice the cooling I had with just ducted air flow. Its noisy and there is a lot of air turbulence but it now is cool in the MH. Even on 30 amps in Palm Springs at 109 degrees, my two ACs performed very well.

Ours are zoned separately with separate temp sensors however the duct sytem is connected so you can run one unit and cool the whole coach. We like the system this way and would not like to have the units separated.
