Where are you installing your EZ Pass Transponder so it will work. We are having problems in Maine. I've tried moving it around with no luck.
Thanks,
Gil

Try putting it near the bottom center of the windshield. That is about the same height as the top of a car windshield. It worked there for us in IL, OH, NY and WV.

My guess is because of the bunk area sticking out, your transponders signal is not being picked up. Try lowering it to the very bottom of the windshield and see if that helps.

Thanks for the replies. I have moved it close to the bottom, still did not work in Maine until we gave it to the attendant. Hopefully it will work in other states. Heading to Lake George.

There are 2 types of EZpass transponders, a white box to be installed on the windshield and a black box to be installed on top of the front license plate. Our class C had the black box (which only covers the top part of the plate), and we did not have any problems paying tolls with it. My car also has a black box located on the front plate. I only had one problem with it, when I followed a car too closely through a bridge toll booth. I daily drive on the NYS thruway and over Hudson river bridges.

You may be having a problem because your class C does not pay the same tolls as a car. You may have to get a transponder that is designed for paying RV tolls.

On our C we have a window in the cab over and placed the EZ Pass (white box) up in that window, and haven't had any issues (traveling through NH). I am not sure if you have a window up there, but you could try that.

Although the white box that goes on the windshield doesn't require it, you can increase the effectiveness of the black piece that goes on the license plate by being sure it is backed up by a piece of ferrous metal. This can be the license plate, plate frame, bumper or bumper backing, but if you install this piece on a plastic, fiberglass or a glass piece like a windshield or window, it will not be as effective or have as great a range. Since I placed a sheet of galvanized steel behind my transponder and installed it in the center of the front fiberglass cap, (Velcro sewed on to the bra) my transponder has worked flawlessly from Maine to VA to Illinois. I got the tip from the folks at EZ-Pass that check transponder output when you bring it in with problems.

I would not assume that is the problem! The transponder works with RFI i.e. Radio Frequency , the same as Sirius radio, which I have mounted in the overhead and I pick up through the fiberglass overhang with no problem. White box/Black box could be on to something there??

I have the black license plate mounted EZ Pass. I have traveled from Florida to Maine and the only place I have problems is in New York State.

See you on the road!

Our transponder didn't work until I moved it to the center bottom of the windshield. Haven't had any problems since. We have used it all over the East and through Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
