Thinking about using Tour West America out of Yuma Arizona at Thanksgiving. They have a bus trip to Puerto Penasco(Rocky Point) Mexico for the holiday. Seems like an ok hotel, beach front with a Thanksgiving dinner and 2 breakfasts. We have a couple friends who would like to go also, but they have qualms about going into Mexico, except for a day trip to Los Algodones.
Has anyone taken this trip? I would like to calm our friends fears so we can all go together.
Any info is appreciated. We stay in Quartzsite, so the drive to Yuma is nothing for us.

Thanks Dona

Rocky Point is even more Americanised than Los Algodones! You and Your Friends will feel right at home ,apart from the longer drive to get there.

Some great Seafood restaurants !

You can easily drive directly to Puerto Penasco from Quartzite via Lukeville!

Dona,

Follow up to your message/post. I live in Rocky Point year round for the last 5 years. No violence problems. If you are in or near Yuma, a better route is to cross the border at San Luis or Algadones and take MX highway 2 east of San Luis Colorado about 3 miles or so. Turn right at the sign for El Golfo de Santa Clara. You will enter a toll road and drive south to El Golfo and follow the signs to Puerto Penasco. It should take a little less than 2 hours. A faster drive than taking Interstate 8 to Gila Bend and then south on highway 85 through Lukeville crossing. Good luck and have fun....

thanks for the speedy answers. I will relay this info to our friends. We are not driving, just taking a bus tour for 3 days at Thanksgiving. The price is good without buying insurance for our truck.
I didn't realize it was so close to us. Have been to many towns in Mexico over the years and loved them all. Took the Mexician riviera cruise in 2011 and just had a great time. Cancun beaches with the powdery sand is one of my favorites.
Thanks again to you both. Dona
