Hey folks I hope you can help me out here. I'm getting some conflicting answers. I wish to do some roof maintenance by adding some additional lap sealant. I was told by the dealer to use their Dicor 502-LSW stuff which I purchased. However as I started to read things I noticed that my Rockwood has a TPO roof and it says not to use any PETROLEUM DISTILLATES. I noticed though that the Dicor 502-LSW has a warning saying it contains PETROLEUM DISTILLATES in the form of Naptha. I found a tube of Dicor 501 as well and it says it's good for EPDM and TPO roofs. But it also has the "contains PETROLEUM DISTILLATES". What gives?

From Dicor site.

Note: Dicor Products Lap Sealant contains a type of petroleum distillate used strictly in the curing process. As the Lap Sealant cures, the petroleum distillate evaporates. This will not harm or cause permanent damage to your roof.

Oh I guess I didn't look hard enough. Thanks for finding that for me as I was loosing my mind. Started with the difference between 501 and 502 sealant.

I actually happened to cross this page and this quote didn't help

"
One supplier of cleaning products told me that their roof treatment had only a very small percentage of petroleum in the neighborhood of 10 to 30 percent. Is a small percentage like that OK to use on my roof?

No. Usually the percentage is given based on weight. Since petroleum distillates are significantly lighter, the reality is that 30 percent by weight might be 40 percent or more by volume! THERE IS NO LEVEL OF PETROLEUM DISTILLATES THAT IS RECOMMENDED.

The Dicor Corporation makes both TPO and EPDM roofing materiale. Their sealants are compatible with both.
