We came through a stretch on Hwy 97 yesterday that we would love to drive on frequently. Our first experience was about 8 weeks ago on our way to Alaska. Yesterday was on our way back. There are more animals on and close to the road between Watson Lake and Ft. Nelson that we saw in all of Alaska. Have fun viewing the wildlife, and please drive cautiously. We saw the carcass of a moose calf on the side of the road, and we hoped it was not one of the twins we saw crossing on the way up. For those not familiar with Facebook, click on the picture to see my comments on each picture. Hope you enjoy!

Oh ... too bad these critters weren't still out.
Saw them July 1 just south of Irons Creek on my way home to Yukon:

Cool! Thanks for sharing.

By the way...I'm guessing you forgot the "not" word (after 'hoped it was...') in that sentence about the moose twins.

Had the same experience a few days ago. Saw 1 big horn sheep, 3 bears and 2 groups of bison between Fort Nelson and Watson Lake, right alongside the road. Since then, I driven to Whitehorse and up to Dawson City. Haven't seen ONE large animal in that stretch! Hard to believe with all this uninhabited land. Did see a fox today, however.

@sue.t
Great shots! Love the blond little cub and I added "not." Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks!

I'll trade you two Stone sheep and a herd of bison for a Bighorn and fox.

You're right we saw so many different types of animals in this area during our trip to Alaska in 2010.

@morley - awesome! Friends of ours who came up in late June also saw lots of wildlife in that area and enjoyed it. Something about viewing wildlife in their natural habitat that is rejuvenating to me.
