Hi, I am planning a trip to Gettysburg with my 12, 10 and 8 yr. old. I would also like to go to Lancaster area for a day or so. I was thinking of staying at Gettysburg Campground, but it seems a little far from Lancaster. I was wondering if anyone knows of a nice campground between Gettysburg and Lancaster that would be good for my kids. It would have to have a pool and nice playground or activities. Thank you for any help. P.S. if there are any suggestions on things to do/see, I would appreciate that also!

Check out Pinchot State Park in PA. We stayed there a few years ago, and really liked it. About in the center between Gettysburg (me), Lancaster (wife), and Hershey Park (two kids), so it was a great location for us.

Lancaster isn't really all that far from Gettysburg if you go down US30. There are lots of CG's in Gettysburg as you have probably noticed. We use Drummer Boy when we go to the area to see family.

It's not far by road but timewise it seems about 9 hours sometimes. I don't like that road but Love New Oxford.

BTW - Had a bad experience in another CG in that general area called "Otter Creek", in Airville, PA. I would avoid going there.

We also liked Drummer Boy quite a bit. Excellent place to be especially if you don't feel like driving for a day. Weren't too impressed with campground at Hershey Park, though.

Camped here when I was younger. It's a nice park. Gifford Pinchot SP

Cordorus SP is just outside of Hanover and has a nice pool. Never camped there.

You may be able to look for some Amish campgrounds or Mennonite. That would be a lot of fun. They'd probably have hookups. Some may run a B&B type of thing for RV's out that way. Home cooking... yum.

4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

I'd suggest that you visit Strasburg Railroad.
