As an ice breaker I might just walk over to a neighbor's site and ask them if they are having any trouble getting any antenna signal. That usually sparks a conversation as campers are usually helpful by nature. Incidentally, I must have met 30 people at CG's just in the past year, all friendly, I've helped some, some have helped me, and not once did we ever exchange names. Seems like some camper creed. Not bothered by it, just something I've noticed. IMHO fellow campers are the nicest group of people I have ever met. In my experience even un-freindly's will still wave back if you wave first.

How many people have you actually gone up to that refused to talk with you or help you? We travel quite a bit in our RV and sometimes I find that most people keep to themselves, or only associate with those in their small caravan group. That said, I have never had anyone refuse to talk to me or refuse to offer some help if I asked. I have also found that if I initiate a conversation with others, they are more than willing to talk about where they are going or where they have been.
Just get out there and open your mouth. You will probably be surprised at the response.

Please don't take this the wrong way but have you tried getting to a campground earlier than the middle of the night. Maybe you are waking people. Some of us old folks sleep at night. We have been fulltimeing for 6 years, I am pretty outspoken and have never met a stranger. I make it my duty to make at least 1 new friend every day, and I am very proud to say I have friends in Canada, Mexico and all over this great country of ours. Just be open and it don't hurt to take the first step and say Hi"always with a smile"

We are both 33 too and got our current camper as our first RV a few years ago, we basically decided to go with what everybody else seemed to get, a Class A. Maybe that is why people don't ask you questions about it. I think Class A's are too common compared to toy haulers.

Easier 'ice' breaker.
Now with the MH......you are just one of many......same old/same old....nothing unique.
So get a 'odd' camp sign, 'strange' lawn art, do a 'happy dance'....something to draw peoples attention OR
Go out of your way to 'greet & meet' folks...... So true thanks for the advice

You did have one big beautiful toy hauler. I can see why people would go out of their way to get a closer look. Dogs are also usually great conversation starters. I don't have a clue what changed.

Some folks want privacy and many are willing to talk when engaged. I agree on the need for ice breakers to get conversation going. I drive a Smart Car as a towed. That usually gets discussion going. Age usually doesn't matter although as we age our hearing seems to go to pot so speak loud and clear. Us older folks have a tendency to nod and smile when we don't hear and understand.

I find most people to be very friendly towards us when we're set up somewhere.
We always make it point to chat with everyone who walks by. Most times leading to in depth conversations and lasting friendships during our stays.
I think sometimes some people may feel that because we're driving big fancy class A MHs that we're snobby? Never did understand that, but often wondered if that's how some people view us. We have been to a few places that made us feel that way in the past.
We're no different now than when we were in our PUP Just older and wiser lol
