I own a 2011 North Trail 21 FBS. Most recently, my slide out "binds" and will not deploy completely. When I try to extend the slide, the bottom of the slide extends several inches before the top followed by a loud "snap" before the slide extends completely. When I retract the slide, there is a loud "snap" just prior to the slide retracting completely. It looks and sounds like maybe the cables are not adjusted evenly(?).

Has anyone encountered a similar problem? I would be interested in knowing what you had to do to the slide mechanism in order for it to operate properly.

Thanks for your assistance.

HI 5Trooper,

You can check out these manuals. Hope they help. Not sure what slide you have.

I have a North Trail, though a different model. On mine the entire drive mechanism is at the bottom, and the to is just "along for the ride".

From your description, it sounds like something is hanging up at the top of the slide out. Could be the rubber seal or the exterior trim piece at the top of the slide out opening. Could you get on a ladder and observe the top while someone else operates the slide?

Jim,

Thanks for the manual. It matches the slide system I have in my North Trail. It sounds like my cables need to be adjusted. I'll take my unit into the dealer for repair.

I really appreciate your help!

Jeff

P.S. Will do on the Heartland Owner's Forum.

Mike,

I followed your advice and it appears that the slide is clear of any obstructions and/or hanging up on the seal. It operates like the cables' tensions are not adjusted equally.

Thanks for your input.

Jeff
