Hi.. is 138 to 38 to Florance okay for a 36-foot 5er? Looking for access to Florance from Yreka, Ca... Mapquest says 4 hrs 18 minutes...
but doesn't say anything about the road. Didn't want to travel all the way to Eugene to cut over...
thanks

We took that route and it was an enjoyable drive. Even stopped to pick some blackberries for pie.

2oldman - 138 comes in at Sutherlin and goes into 38 and on to Reedsport. Yes, it's a good road but a little curvy so you'll be going slow. Best to avoid it on weekends as there will be a lot of folks trying to get to the beach! We've done it a few times with our 40' motorhome.

We used to live in Florence, OR and tow a TT down to Redding, CA. It is a nice route and much better than going to Eugene and taking 126 to Florence.

Beautiful drive and most of it along the river. Not very steep or twisty roads, easy drive.

Elk viewing area before you get to Reedsport then 101 North to Florence.

There will be a steep 2 lane road to go up once you get on 101 out of Reedsport but not a problem.

One more question... We are heading eventually back to 1-5 near Astoria to our final destination Ryderwood Washington - actually at a tiny campground in Toledo, washington...
SOO... would it be best to leave Astoria and take 30 or go over the bridge at Astoria and travel the other side on 4?

OK - count us 'crazy' but we need to go from Redding CA to Portland in January 2013 ... would this be the best route - to go along the coast or ? I know there will be weather problems, but if we allow enuff time we can take our time along the way, right ?
