I really dislike to buy things twice, but in this case I am going to have to; I got a bike/chair hook for the ladder of my class a, I thought it would work fine for my boys x-pens, I was only able to get one on (and that was a battle), due to the "style" of the hook, so I am looking for one that is open, so I can just slide the x-pens on and they strap them down. The problem I have found is where does one get them, none of the rv places have exactly what I'm looking for, the bike racks have the 'nubs' to hold the bikes on and I feel the x-pens may not go over them. Or at least what are they called, I looked on the MidWest site, but did not find anything. HELP !

Don't have a solution for you. After wrestling the same battle as you, I decided that the ExPens were just perfect in the pass-thru storage!

What about mounting one of those cargo carriers on the back bumper instead. I compete in a lot of dog sports with my dogs and a large number of people have those for their dog crates? I have 1 xpen in the back of the truck and when i get my second I will probably store it in my pass through (I have a travel trailer but it has a large door on the front to get to pass through under a bunk bed). My father in law is building us something to keep the dogs from going under the trailer then i will use the xpens on the other three sides to build a little "yard" for them if that makes any sense.

yep, we carry 2 x-pens also and they were definitely easier to get in the basement storage than figuring how to hang them on the ladder.

I use one of these. I mount it as low as possible (my ex-pen is heavy at 24' x 4', and I usually load it alone), lift it on and bungee it to the ladder. The rubber grips actually help and keep the bottom from kicking out. Many miles of travel with no problems.

Safe travels. Phyllis
