I don't beleive Wolfe is talking reverse polarity as in DC systems, but improperly wired receptacle. Neutral could be on a phase pin. Or neutral and ground could be reversed (depends on system) Normally this would not create a major failure.

Wow! Super on trying to help the OP out! You guys are great. I hope when OP gets the problem resolved (and hoping it is some kind of breaker or fuse only) that he lets us know for every ones knowledge but also I am hooked on this thread like a good mystery novel

Has the OP tried stretching his electrical cord to another park pedestal to see if that solves the problem. Naturally he may not have enough cord to do that, but if he does........

Mike,

First, it would help if you put what coach you have in your signature.

Do you have 30 or 50 amp coach? Is shore power 30 or 50 amp?

Absolutely, before even thinking about replugging into shore power, VERIFY correct polarity, voltage and presence of good ground. If you tell us whether this is a 30 or 50 amp connection AND whether you have a digital voltmeter, we can tell you how to do it.

Do you have a generator? If so, run it with shore power disconnected and tell us exactly what works/doesn't work on generator vs shore power.

How could a park operate on reverse polarity today ?

They could be sued into oblivion for it

You are asking two very different questions:

Could someone rewire a CG pedestal incorrectly? Sure.

Could they be sued for damages? Sure.

Remember, not everyone who works in CG wiring is an electrician. Could be a CG owner, work camper or even someone who is just camping there and wants to hide the fact that he backed over the pedestal!

Remember folks, he said he's at a STATE CG....going to the office is not going to help much.....he said it was a long story, maybe he could enlighten us while we wait.....if the OP comes back, he might simply try running a 20A extension cord to the next site to see if he can get some power, but I would also assume he, or the rep from GS have already checked his pedestal...of course, we don't know what kind of tech GS sent out.....Dennis

We know it is a new Tuscany with 50amp. We know the OP is posting from a cell phone so brevity is caused by that. The rest is hard to figure. Many suggestions have been tossed out and a few responses have indicated they didn't work but many are still up in the air. We know he has a new tech today but we don't know if the tech has arrived. We know he is hot and miserable. My wife and dogs would have headed for alternative accommodations a long time ago and I would have locked the door and joined her and returned this morning. I am sure we will get some more info soon and I am still betting a a main breaker has been tripped and not reset. The generator is a real puzzle. When my friends Monaco had the pedestal struck by lightning he lost some electrical things but didn't lose everything.

OK need to read the OP posting. He states all the AC power is working. Battery is OK. But no DC power to the coach. Generator will not start.

I don't think we should be looking at the AC shore post or switching wires to another post. His problem is DC related. Like a main fuse, circut breaker or disconnect switch. As I said before if my DC power is off my air condition will not work. Dual Therm uses the house battery to control the AC system. For his Inverter converter/ I am not up on his setup, but maybe it need some 12 volt from the battery or it is trying to tell him it can charge the battery because it is diconnectd from the system.

The OP opening post states slide will not move and the awning will not move. NO AC now is he talking about air conditioner or AC power? His generator will not start. He is going to have to spend a hot in in the RV. These are all 12 system or controls. He states all ac is working but nothing on DC. I think we need some information to clear this mess up. Hey I can be out in left field on this

CT Wanderer, I agree that based on his original post it looks more like a DC (12 volt) than a AC (120 volt) problem. It's almost like his "salesman"/house battery disconnect switch is bad. I've spent countless hours trying to figure out the flow of current on my mh (both DC and AC) and it would be helpfull if manufacturers would include a schematic with their motorhomes. Hell, I have a fused(30 amp)line attached to my battery that I have no idea of what it's for.

As far as needing DC current to work the air conditioners, you are absolutely right, the control board is 12 volt DC and the compressor/fans are 120, I've never heard of a transformer in an air conditioner to provide the 12volt power on a rv air conditioner, they just use a line from the 12 volt system. I've also wondered if his refrigerator is working, if it's a traditional rv refrig, I bet it's not working either, of course he could have an all electric coach, I just don't know

A day has passed and no news. I hope it is resolved and the OP didn't have time to post but will update us later.
