We just returned home from our 1100 mile round trip to the Smokey Mountians with the new Goodyear RST G614 tires. I ordered the tires from Sears for just shy of $300 a tire. I took them to a Goodyear dealer for mounting due to convenience. Here are my findings:
First off, I made a big mistake by not checking the air pressure before leaving the tire dealer/installer. I told him at least twice to be sure to put 110 psi in the tires. Prior to leaving on our trip I checked them, none of them had even 100psi in them. He siad he was going to install new valve stem cores. Who knows.
Secondly, prior to the trip, I checked the tires and got them to 107.5 psi and could do no better then that with multiple attempts on each tire using my Craftsmen air compresor - the same one that a few members have posted as having....
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00915310000P
So I am going to have to get something better. I have a small 12v rechargeable Campbell Hausfeld that actually aired-up one tire before running out of juice. I was shocked!
Thirdly, checking the tires prior to the trip home, the right front has lost about 10 pounds. I was not very pleased with that so now its another thing to take care of. I assume its a bad core/valve but how knows? Could be a tire. I don't think I picked-up a nail or anything else. I will watch it this week as it had lost about 3 pounds on the way home.
Finally, the tires performed GREAT! We could tell the difference by the ride of the truck. I attribute the improvement due to the stiffness of the tire which keeps the trailer from bouncing or tugging on the truck as much. The Duros are a much, much softer tire. I experiecned the same when I switched the ST tires to LT tires on our old RV.
So, I am very pleased and feel much more confident except for the one tire which is loosing some air. I will get that looked at and get a new compressor and the we will be all set. I'm not sure I want to spend the $300 for a Viair 12v or get a better 110 volt. I have heard good things about this one:

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-1.5-gallon-portable-air-compressor-with-hose/p-00915309000P?prdNo=14&blockNo=14&blockType=G14

Also, how can I be sure that I get the best quality high pressure valve stems installed? The tire installer said he would change the cores. The RV wheels came with metal riged valve stems.
Safe travels! Phillip

$300 per tire is a really good price for those G614's.

What is the date code on them?

The 10# air loss sounds like a valve stem...leaking core or leak at rim.
Spray the valve stem at rim & core with soapy water.

Did they just change cores or install new valve stems....should have been new stems.

i bet that the regulator on your current compressor will only alow that much preasure through. if you removed it you would get more preasure output and higher flow. as far as valve stems go if you can get them into the rims the brass truck ones are best but you probly just got a bad one as the others are holding.

If you're at 107.5 I wouldn't worry. The tire pressure will climb at least 4-5 PSI and probably more as they warm up..

Do you need th full rating on the tires? I just run mine at 100 psi because I'm over-tired anyway. My stems from Goodyear are only rated 100 psi cold inflation anyway. I went to a Goodyear owned store and they would only install the metal core rubber high pressure stems. They refused my chinese chrome metal stems because they did not have a pressure rating.

You should weigh your rv each tire seperately then use the tire pressure chart on GY website for your tires. Go by the heaviest tire weight then add 5psi to your recomended pressure. Have done this on 3 sets of GY tirea and have had great wear and ride no flats or blow outs!

I gurantee My Mobile Suites is heavier than your RV 100# is plenty for my rv.

Good choice on the tires! They back up their product!

I have a sears compressor that to get my tires to 110 I have to hold down (over ride) the cut off switch. That provides the compressor enough to get to the 110. My own thoughts about pressure, keep at 110 do not change. I always check tire pressure before moving unit. I bring each tire either up or down to 110. It makes me feel safer i guess.

You need to get all new valve stems. high pressure not made in china also make sure you get the wheels balanced.

About 2 yrs. ago, I purchased a "reconditioned" air compressor from Northern Tool for $99. I see them come and go during the year and this one has worked like a champ for me. It's listed at 175 psi output, don't know about that, though the gages show it going that high, but I do know that it air's up my G614RST's to 110 psi effortlessly...One of the best purchases I've made. It comes with wheels and a handle..it is 15 gallon and is easy to wheel around and pick up to put in your truck or the basement of one's 5er if needed. Model # is REK1381509. Didn't see any other information on it, except for warnings and directions....Last time I saw some show at Northern Tool was about a month ago..They're painted black...Again, it works great for me, no issues and I've used it for more things than just airing up my tires....

The date code on them is 2212 so they were very fresh tires and made in the USA. They did not change the steel valve stems that came on the RV but "said" they installed new cores. The old DURO tires which were suppossedly Nitro filled never seem to loose any air. Phillip

I totally agree with you on the tire pressure. I don't want this to turn into a pressure debate as there has been enough of threads on that subject. I will continue to run 105-110 cold pressure in the tires. My conceren is the slow leak and whether or not the cores are adequate. Again, the stems are metal rigid. I did get the tires balanced and am a firm beliver in balancing trailer tires. Phillip
