My 05 has never been over 210 with the big Smarty on 120hp . But no big climbs with weight either.
I've seen my pyro pegged over 1,600 on the dyno, but never on the street with a load. Also, never over 220 engine temps and my fan clutch isn't working.
I am very conservative with egt's because I have seen too many engines melt
Outside temps were 100f today, some long grades headed into salt lake. Hypertech backed down to stage 1 (lowest) today. Engine temps were cooler despite higher outside temps. Peaked at 225f, and that was only on one long grade.

The hypertech uses too much timing. Thus the higher temps. Get a tuner with custom tunes & you will see a marked difference. I started out with a hypertech then I got educated and got custom tunes and it's night & day difference. Do it before you hurt the eng.
Also the custom tunes will make more power and get better mpg than the hypertech. My 20T tune makes more usable power than stage 3 (100hp) on the hypertech.

Me, I would swap the oil and put in synthetic. Assuming it isnt synthetic already.
Top right gauge is oil pressure.
Fake oil pressure at that.
Yup
Agreed. The oil pressure reading is controlled by the ecm, as is the engine coolant temps. Watching the scangauge and the engine temp gauge was interesting. The engine coolant gauge is dead accurate, agreeing 100% with the scangauge readings until about midpoint or just above (95c ~200f), then the needle movement to the right is held back as the temps continue to climb. At 109c (228f) the gauge shows about a needle width or two over 1/2, but not much more. As soon as temp reaches 110c (230f), the gauge moves about 3/8" to the right in a second or so, then again becomes accurate, moving slowly to the right as temps rise. Highest I hit was 115c (239f) on the scangauge. I got no chimes, warnings or anything like that, but the needle was almost into the red, which is labelled 120c (248f) on my truck, probably 250f on USA trucks(?).
I suspect the oil pressure works the same way.
Just as a side note, there are two of us travelling together, My BIL has an 04 Ram 2500/Cummins, and pulls a 32' TT (~8500#?). His gagues do not work like mine do. They aren't "damped". I suspect the introduction of the tipm will coincide with the "fake" gauge readings - but thats just a theory.
I should lend him my scangaguge for the next leg of our trip.

Opinions vary on tuners. I have had nothing but problem free performance out of the Hypertech. I have used Edge and Superchips as well. A buddy of mine has a Smarty Jr on an identical truck to mine and I have driven his and see no reason to switch from Hypertech to Smarty Jr. In fact, on the top levels on each tuner, mine is slightly faster, but only slightly. In any case, with alll the hype I have read about Smarty products in general, I was expecting more from the Smarty Jr. When you look at the numbers, the Hypertech and Smarty Jr are rated almost exactly the same on each level: 1 = +35-40hp, 2 = +~75hp, 3 = +100 - 115hp.
From now on, I will be using stage 1 for towing in desert heat when combined with steep grades. I have never had the temp get this high in Canada where it is rare to have steep grades and high outside temps. It's generally cooler in the Canadian Rockies where I climb steeper grades, and hotter in the Prairies, but there aren't any long, steep grades there.
It was my truck with the Smarty Jr and IB's truck is faster but he does have a MBRP exhaust but it is faster. I have since played with the timing and droped the TQ as well to lower the smoke. I tow in stage 2 with my temp gauge staying at 96-98 celsius.
My trailer is heavier by around 2k and 4 feet longer but I didn't have the steep grades to cross this summer. Next time we race, I will lower my tire presure which I expect will bring us a little closer by reduced tire spin. Start your engine IB!!!! LOL
