When mice move they drip urine as they go , their eye sight is poor so they sniff the urine trail they just dripped to find their way about .
If you leave some strong scent that you can stand around where they walk about they will leave as the scent -- essentially makes them totally blind and they are uncomfortable with that .

Mice need a home too, but not in my RV! So-regarding baiting in an area that a repellent is placed: Here is what I know: the mouse is getting mixed messages. the fresh cab pouch repels him/her, the peanut better lures him in. The manufacturer recommends not to do both. thier lab and field test show 90% effectiveness in infested areas ( 5 or more mice coming and going each day) for about 3 months when not using food or attractants which sticky pads contain to lure them in. the best option is to use the fresh cab in areas where they can live undetected for months ( like my pop up camper) and use poisons or traps around the base of the camper to catch them on thier way in and out for food and water. It's worked 100% for me anyway. if you have kids and pets where you store your RV, visit thier website- they have tons of free useful tips I discovered. and a money back guarantee for the times it doesn't work, or was used incorrectly. you don't find very often that these days.

Kari I believe is the owner/developer of Fresh Cab. Joined today, one post. I may take you up on the guarantee, but the product does have value by giving the RV a pleasant smell.

Seriously? Pretty lame not to disclose that if you are right.

Yea, I agree, .... pretty Lame. Kari, Please disclose if this is the case.
Here is my disclosure. I just purchased a 3 month 12 pack of Fresh Cab to use in our motor home. In fact it was waiting on my doorstep last night when I got home from work. Was planning on signing up for the Auto ship option to keep it coming if it works.
But, if we have a lurker that is pretending to be something other than a "Real" satisfied customer, you gotta wonder?????

I've never used this product but have read the responses from users posted here.
While not a scientifically valid study, here is what I have gotten from this thread.
Numerous users found that when Fresh Cab and food bait are located together mice come to the food baited trap. Thus it is logical to conclude that the repellant effect is not sufficient to overcome the lure of food.
To be effective in an RV the repellant needs to have an effective range which turns mice back before they come into the RV. This needs to be effective when food is in the RV as most RV'ers do keep pantries stocked.
If a mouse is willing to walk up to a food baited trap next to this product, it's hard to believe it has an effective repellant effect.
Saying that putting food in the RV will prevent effective repulsion, is kind of like saying the product repels mice when used in a place where mice have no desire to go. When presented with "mixed messages" the product must be effective enough for the mouse to decide to retreat over the decision to go towards the food.

I think I will try some Great Stuff to plug the holes instead of steel wool. Would also seem to provide better weather-proofing than steel wool. I would rather prevent them from getting in rather than repel them with some kind of expensive fragrance. Can't be that difficult to do.

Yes, I am Kari, the inventor and Farmer in Charge at Earth-Kind, maker of Fresh Cab and I am proud of it and should have registered as such. I was too focused on not conflicting with the forum's posting guidelines, getting the information out about proper use of our product and our 100% satisfaction guarantee. Fresh Cab has been protecting farms & families since 1995 and I hope you'll give Fresh Cab a try. Ironically, I originally developed it as a safe repellent to keep rodents out of our 1978 Pathfinder camper. www.earth-kind.com

We had a problem with the small squirrels down south eating up the wiring on our tow car & motorhome. We were told to use moth balls- but the smell was permeating & offensive, and we found out- dangerous to our health. One mechanic who fixed some wires told us to put bars of Irish Spring soap in our wheel wells, storage compartments, trunk etc. Works so far! Should work for any rodent.

I use it. Read about it here. Put it in the places where we have found droppings. Have found it does work if I follow the directions. And the directions say that it last up to 30 days. Now if I try to make a package last all winter, I end up with mouse droppings at the end of the winter. But if I replace the packets monthly, I have had good results. I think that good cleaning procedures (in places very difficult to reach), blocking access (steel wool), and products like Fresh Cab which block the mice's scent ability are a way to keep the mice out. As I said, I've had good luck when following the directions. The directions say nothing about setting a baited trap beside the Fresh Cab . And the directions say it lasts up to 30 days and is dependent on air exchange rates and temperature conditions.
And thank you Kari for a great product! Much better that the other options out there. And pm or e-mail me for the address to send coupons !!!
