Our awning spring somehow doesn't work. As we've been looking, we haven't been able to find just the spring. Anyone know where we can get one?

I'd really hate to replace the whole shebang, but if it comes to that, where have you all found that's cheap (lol). I'm pretty sure we aren't going to want to upgrade to an automatic one just yet.

Thanks, all!

From what I know, the best thing to do is completely pull it out. On the metal or the last few inches of fabric is a decal that you should write all the information down from. That gives you all the details of your awning.

You can then go online and put in your model and get the parts description and a supplier there.

Springs come as an assembly.Remember that spring has a lot of tension on it.I picked up one at a rv salvage yard for like $40.It took 12 winds of the spring on reinstall. That was fun on a ladder even with 2 of us.

We finally found the part number and it looks like we can get just the spring. This last trip was the total pits (tires *sigh*) and it looks like it's just time to start changing things out. The sun has not been kind............

Thanks, all.

I replaced both awing springs many years ago on our old TT with a Carefree awning after one spring broke. Got the springs shipped directly from them purchased through Camping World. Replacing the springs can be very dangerous so use a healthy dose of caution.

My awning spring broke and I heard it unwind. I took the bolt out and lifted the spring assembly. I learned the hard way that the spring had not completely unwound. Cut was so bad had to go to the emergency room for sutures. If there is a spot to put a cotter pin make sure you install it before you start to work on the awning.

Thanks, all. Will definitely make sure things are completely unwound and be cautious.
