Is anyone having problems with Dometic Refrigerator model RM1350MX? It is a double door with freezer on top. Since we have been full timers, (3 months) it has not worked right at all. We have had service techs in to fix it--as they dealt with Dometic. The compressor has been replaced, which helped for a week, then control board when the compressor didn't seem to do the trick. Once they put in the new control board, and a "baffle" which had not been installed by the factory (?) it worked fine, but only for a week. Here goes another call to the service guys, but then Dometic said they would not approve anything else until we took it to the dealer to check the 12V system, as Dometic thought that must be the problem. The dealer checked it (thank God we had friends to stay with with our 3 dogs, 1 cat and 2 adults!!) and found nothing wrong. The dealer even did a cursery look and thought the compressor was "plugged". The compressor was brandy new!! Anyway, after the dealer found nothing wrong, Dometic then sent ANOTHER control board to our RV service guys, and when they put it in...he found the compressor wasn't working! At all. NADA. Now mind you, all these parts going back and forth takes a week to ten days...plus getting the guys out here on their schedule, etc. It has been nothing less than frustrating/aggravating to say the least. This refrigerator was the biggest draw for me in our new 2012 Forest River Blue Ridge. Yes..its brand new, and thank God still under warranty. So now, our service guy left today after trying to reach Dometic (he was 13th on the waiting list--not good) Hopefully tomorrow he will reach them and they will hopefully either replace this one completely or GIVE ME A NEW MODEL. I'm about to throw it out the front door!!!!!

I don't think your fridge has a compressor.. Any idea what they really replaced?

Hi,

The RM1350MX appears to be an absorption Fridge. Therefore there is no compressor.

If I were going to full time I would go to a compressor fridge, solar panels and an upgraded battery bank.

Cooling unit replaced.....
Control board replaced.....
Baffle installed......
12V DC system checked OK........
Another control board installed......
Now appears cooling unit is plugged.......

Sounds like nobody.....RV service techs mobile or at dealer is doing anything more than throwing parts at it.
Instead of RV people dealing with Dometic.......YOU need to get on the phone and talk with a Representative......then keep going up the chain until you find someone that can help.
New fridge shouldn't be having this many continuous problems.......DON'T give in. Document every repair (time/date/who/what), every contact (who/when/what), every person that has touched that fridge. SQUEAK LOUDLY. It' your problem so get VOCAL......don't just rely on RV service techs/dealer. They aren't invested...other than getting paid.

Just curious.......The RV is level right?? Side to side & front to back.

If the RV dealer and refrig tech's are replacing and diagnosing issues with a compressor on an absorption refrig it might be time to find some competent Tech's and a RV dealer that knows what their doing.

I removed our fridge one winter to fine-tune its install per some directions I found on-line. I was surprised to find roofing material was blocking about 40% of the roof vent opening. Had I not noticed this it could have kept the cooling unit from working when it was very hot. Just something else to check.

also, our service techs are on the phone with dometic every time, doing checklists, etc....so why shouldn't that be enough to find the problem???

#1 OK, lets start with the fact that you say it hasn't worked right? Why do you say that?

#2 If your not satisfied with the repairs and explanation you getting from your local mechanic/dealer Then try a different one. Sometimes you just have to find the right guy to fix it and explain to you what the problem was. You just haven't found that guy yet. Try Somebody Else!!

This is true on other things like cars too. If the first dealer didn't fix the car under warranty to your expectations. Then try a different dealer.

These things can be more complicated then a person can expect. After all if it was simple you would have fixed it yourself. Right.

We have a Dometic RM1350 SSX - what was the resolution on your issues? Ours is not cooling - jumping from 41 degrees in the a.m. to 51 degrees in the evening. Suggestions? Hoops to jump through? Ideas? Thanks
