We will be heading to Vegas in the car (no need to worry about speed in the RV) and I wanted to know if WA, OR, NV, ID and or CA have laws against them. If need be we will leave it at home.
I will try to check with each state, but thought someone here may already know the answer.
If you are speeding, get caught speeding, and then get caught for having a radar detector, I am not sympathetic. Pass when its safe, legal, and worthwile. I'll pull over and let you by when it's safe and works for me. Otherwise...enjoy the ride.
Not sure you'll need to bother as our speed limits are higher than what I recall last time I was in B.C. Speed limits were returned to state control back in 1995 and I've found most increases from the old fedreral mandated 55 mph to be reasonable in most locations. I don't see too many vehicles grossly exceeding the limits these days. Maybe the poor fuel economy driving at high speeds and heavy punitive $$ costs for getting a ticket could keep most drivers within acceptable bounds of the posted limits. general rule of thumb is to stay below 10mph over the posted limit. ie.. stay below 80 when the posted limit is 70mph.

If you are going to use a Radar, I strongly suggest you spend your money on a "Valentine Radar". Best radar I have ever used and gets all bands, gets front, back and both sides. Been using it for 20 years.
In California the Higway Patrol and some local law enforcement agencies have radar detectors on the vehicles that work to the back as well as to the front of the patrol car, it all depends on what the officer wants to do.
If you are following or being followed by a patrol vehicle and the detector goes off, there is a pretty good chance that the radar detector is active in that veheicle.

CHP does not have radar detectors....they run radar for speed with front and rear antennas. The antennas pickup the speed of the vehicle...and no way can detect radar detectors.
A radar detector will alert you to speed traps! it can also keep you aware of approaching emergency equippment, even before you see them coming! they do more than just warn of radar.
