Dunno, but this forum is the best that I have encountered. But, that's just my opinion.

I agree. I believe that you have to look at the context within which Posted questions are answered:

-answers based on experimentation and recorded data (Sleepy is a good example of experimentation/results, and it is up to others to replicate in turn);

-answers based on personal experience. Though statistically insignificant, if enough respondents mirror and pile up like experiences, these experiences could be a trend one way or another (as an example: my positive experiences with my particular brand of tire may not outweigh ever-mounting negatives reported by other users of same). Replacing a circuit board in a specific series of 3-way fridges appears to correct failures-- if enough positive responses/outcomes are Posted, then statistically significant data will float a solution. etc, etc...

I always prefer the scientific observation, recording and reporting approach, however, Forums like this contribute significant anecdotal data weighed against/with a few truly experimental gems...

Other Forums I am a member of (cartography/GIS) are pretty dry. Specific questions on highly-technical methodologies/analytical procedures/processes are asked by both the newby and oldby (oldbies can't be expected to know absolutely everything!), and there is usually SOMEONE that can come up with a water-tight procedure to accomplish something.

I think that Silver and I sense the same thing: the DNA of this forum is welcoming - and informative. I started a string on rebuilding the Avion TC. Who knew that anyone other than me and a couple of eccentrics would be interested? In fact I publicly called for stopping the thread for fear it would "jam up this forum" with material that didn't interest the members. Immediately forum members said "go ahead - jam it up". Well we did, and every time that a newbie stuck their head in the door we said sit down and have a cup of coffee. What do you want to know?

That thread is now the most informative single place to learn about the Avion TC anywhere. Its actually a remarkable achievement for this forum and its members.

I still spend a lot of time reading posts by Steve in England and Socaldesertrider and Silver and Whazoo. Often for their expertise, which is far beyond mine but almost as often for their humor or insights. Of course they are the "stars" of the forum owing to their ability to communicate and their interesting ideas. But, along comes someone every day with equally interesting projects or questions.

I also value Sleepy probably as highly as anyone one this forum. He and his wife exemplify in my mind the very embodiment of the TC lifestyle. I always read his notes, and I am sad that he has suffered health problems. Surely he'll recover fully and revisit the old Air Force Base where he was stationed in the 50s or perhaps the guy in Louisiana who let him boondock outside his cajun restaurant. An additional, endearing quality to Sleepy is his grumpiness, which I can relate to as well.

Now if the mods would let me rant about the government, I'd really be happy ;-) But of course that's not going to happen - and I'm actually glad.

Bottom line is that the experience of this forum with its amazing generosity is a wonderful thing in this day and age.

There is good news... the "Fact" that there are more newbe's posting might mean that the TC industry is recovering.

I like that.

It appears to me there are more "Closed" posts than normal... many because the original question isn't clear
The question might be,,,, "Will a Lance 1191 still be a TC if its bolted to a cut down Chevy Volt?"

The amswers sometimes don't fit the question... There will be some one that says its class C and its a good idea as long as you add airbags and torque lifts. And off we go.

Now you have someone trying to answer honestly... others fanning the fires

I recieved a PM this afternoon... asking my opinion about a Lance 1172... 2 slides.

I wrote back, "You will have to open both slides to go to the bathroom or to make a sandwich." (thats a fact)... "I like the Lance 1191 because you can use the bathroom or make a sandwich with the slide in." (that is my opinion)

Sometimes I get my opinions and facts labeled correctly... some times I'm

Would this statement fall under opinion or fact?

Now that pretty much sums it up

I think some of that mindset comes from visiting other internet forums were newbies are ripped a new one if they happen to ask a question which is commonly asked. That ain't the case here. Newbies are welcome with new questions or old ones; it doesn't matter one bit.

This is why I belong to this forum and continue to visit. I have enjoyed my truck camper for the past 6+ years in part due to the patience and understanding of the members. That and the stickies have become a tremendous source of information. I did not know much of anything about TC when I first started lurking on this site some 7 years ago (and some would say I still don't lol) but none of us are born knowing everything about everything. We should welcome any and all newbie questions. The only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

I agree with blindhog. This site has been invaluable to us with our research and choices. There are so many opinions out there and if you read this forum enough you get to know who to trust.

It doesn't matter how many times a question is asked, I can usually gleen more info from the answers. I love it!

If I get one more great idea from a request, then it's one more that can make TC life all the more fun. We connect with the folks who have the same interests and we're happy to share our experiences and knowledge, good or bad.

Everyone is welcome...except those who seem to always be negative or snide. I'll be the first to call you out for it.

I feel like I've asked some rediculous questions, but they have been usually responded to with smart, kind answers. I'll pay it forward to the next newbie. It's just the way we are.

I have now owned 4 different TCs and this forum has been a help with everyone of them.

I have met other forum members during my travels and hope to meet many more.

I have taken some******though, but probably not more than I have given back

Now why don't all of you's retire from this forum since it seems everything's been hashed 50 ways to Sunday! No sense in chit chat when you can be out TC'ing and the newbies can just click the search button. Brad thanks for your contribution as a moderator but seems times have changed and you can move on now and throw this forum into "read only" mode.

Oops!

your satire is going over a lot of our heads...

I love the forum... I'd just like to see less need for topic closings... and I do agree with the moderators actions.

I truely believe that by the time you have 50 posts you should know your way around the TC forum enough to avoid the moderators wrath.... so who is causing the rash of closings?

I answer far more PM's than open topics in threads.... i.e., I answer when asked.

Sorry to have started another war!
