Hi, We have a 2003 Allegro with a rm2852 Dometic refrigerator. Does that sliding plastic part on the top right side of the fin in the refrigerator help control the temp? (There is a wire hooked up to it which I think might be some type of thermistat) I could not find any info in the manual on what it does and I checked on the Dometic web site. I am assuming if you slide it down it makes the frig a little cooler and if you slide it up it makes it less cooler?? I am thinking maybe there was a sticker there that might have come off? Is down cooler and up warmer or does it do nothing? Thanks for any help

Yes there was a sticker there that came off! If you push it up that makes the fridge cooler, and push it down and it warms the fridge up...You think they would come up with a better design eh ?

Thank you so much. It figures I was backwards in my thinking. I did go back and check after putting it lower for a few hours and it seemed to be warmer............now I know for sure. Thanks again

Yes, raising it puts it in a warmer part of the refrigerator (heat rises), so it turns on the cooling unit sooner/more.

It's a thermister and will make minor changes in fridge section.......6-8*F.
The bulb end of thermister should just poke out of top of clip
Up for 'more cool'.......cases heating cycle (electric/gas) to stay on longer so freezer section gets more cooling affect which then cools off fridges section a bit more.
Down for 'less cool'.....shortens heating cycle

The OLDER refers did not have that sticker. But, moving that thermister is NOT for all Dometic refers. It is ONLY for Auto temp Dometic refers that DO NOT have an adjustable (1-5 setting) tstat on the upper eyebrow board. Moving the Thermister will NOT affect the temp on an adjustable Dometic tstat. The Auto temp Dometic refers will state Auto temp on the upper control board . Doug

Let me suggest that before you do too much working on the refrigerator, it might be wise to visit Bryant RV and Dometic Service Manual. It will also tell you how to test the thermistor.
Service Manual wrote: Disconnect the thermistor harness from the P2,
2-pin terminal on the lower circuit board. Place
the thermistor in a glass of ice water, approximately
33°F to 35°F. Wait 2 to 3 minutes. You
should get a reading of approximately 7,000 to
10,000 ohms.
