thanks for the responses. after reading them i have come to the conclusion that although the porta potti can be done it's drawbacks are no better or worse than the holding tanks.
and the holding tanks probably will have fewer times having to be dumped.
although it seems like a ridiculous amount of money to spend
i probably will carry the polychute and a portable macerator.
imagine spending 500 dollars on poop removal.

Around 2002, the $60k 21ft Born Free Bed and Breakfast has a cassette toilet and was all electric. It was competing w/ Rialta.

If you would rather, fine, but I can't imagine it's any less of an unpleasant task than tank dumping. And it will be much more frequent. And you'll have to endure the stares from camp hosts wondering what you're doing taking that thing into the restroom.

If that's what you want to do then by all means do it. I read here every day about folks who won't use different features their RV has to offer ranging from the Kitchen, shower, water system, fridge etc. Not that I UNDERSTAND why they'd pay big money for all of those things but it's their RV and their business

I started out with a porta pot, then later one of those electric recirculating toilets. Can't imagine going back to either one!
On our rig, both black and gray tanks are 30gal. On a trip, it's probably two or three gray dumps to one black.
Even if you have a porta pot, you will still need to hook up to dump the gray(assuming you're going to use the sink/shower) plus take the porta pot for a walk. Since the porta pot capacity is much smaller, you're also going to make that trip more often.
I would at least try the existing toilet, if you still want to use the PP, but leave the built-in in. If you yank the built-in, save the bits and pieces so you can re-install it when you sell it.
And uh, if I told my wife I was going to take out the toilet and put in a PP...

I'm toying with the idea of removing the toilet and putting a porta potti in it's place. why you may ask. because I think I would rather empty the pora potty into a toilet every 4 days then fill a tank and use a dump station.
Anybody else do this.
an additional advantage is better water conservation.
am i nuts.
I promise i will not take any "he's crazy" remarks personaaly.
thanks
Have you used a porta potti? Have you used the throne in your C? Which is more comfortable for sitting and or standing operations? The last Porta Potti I used I was practically in a full squat when in the #2 position.
Have you dumped the tanks? Both of us dump the tanks and it is not a big deal. It is also nice to be able to take advantage of full hook ups when they are available.
You may want to check the plumbing too, our bathroom sink empties into the black tank too.

I fortunately have never had to take care of the toilet/tanks, but from the comments from hubby, he would rather deal with dumping the tanks then having to get the #2s out of the port-a-potty. so may want to consider what is going into the port-a-potty and your tolerances for getting what is in it, out.

We can go days without having to empty the black tank. With a port a potty you would have to dispose of the waste after every use. Plus the problem of where do you get rid of the waste. Dumping into a toilet sounds gross and unsanitary and bags in the dumpster is really gross and I hope illegal!
See you on the road!

We have a SaniPotti (portable) in our boat and an AquaMagicIV "tall" in our RV on a Thetford base that brings it up to about the "chair height" at home. That feature in the RV is really nice.
But I'll tell you what worries me. Carrying that PP tank through the RV trip after trip. YOU could TRIP or have some other kind of mishap that would be very very messy in a "house" like an RV. I'm just too risk-averse for that.
SaniPotti tank gets out of the boat cuddy in one move then it's on a fiberglass deck and it stays outdoors till it gets to the pool bath with an exterior door. But every time I tote it my mind says things like "Be Careful" and "What If?"

I just don't see any real place to dump a cassette toilet in US RV parks. One park is leery of people taking stuff in their bathrooms after someone poured plaster down their toilets.
I'll just stick to my 42 gallon black water tank. The toilet atop of that is a lot more comfortable than Porta-Potties, and dumping the BW and GW tanks at the sewer at a station or campsite won't arouse curiousity or ire from neighbors.
