One year on th etrip we visited aplace near Smoky Lake Alberta. There is a living museum there, where some of the volunteers dress up in period costume. At this particular place there is the oldest building in the province that is still on its original foundation. IIRC its about 135yrs old.

Recently, I saw the Tokyo Sky Tree. Before that, the model train museum in Hamburg. Roman aqueducts. Honestly, any of the modern rapid passenger rail services in Europe. I really wish we had that here. I'd love to do what I did in Japan, Germany, France, Italy, and England here in the USA.

Been there also. DH got me off the elevator, but I wouldn't come outside! He loved the view! I "peeked" from the stairway. Being high up is not a good place for me, I like ground level better.

So I guess you missed the glass floor then!
I think that was my favourite part, telling people that it was only one person at a time on the glass!

A modern Aircraft Carrier. You would be amazed at what is contained within one of these. A city of over 5000. Escalators., elevators, All air conditioned (except the engine spaces). A modern hospital complete with several operating rooms and beds for over 100 patients. Several mess halls, with one of them open 24-7. Of course it contains an airport with landing strips and take off areas with catapults to get a plane up to speeds of 175 mph in a short distance. Can generate winds over the deck of up to 35 mph. Just some of the features. Cost ???

Stonehenge. Nobody really knows for sure who did this and how, just that the stones came from fairly far away.
Restored sections of the Great Wall. The pits full of terra cotta warriors. West Lake at Hangzhou. The Grand Canal connecting Yellow and Yangtze rivers. The man-made lakes around the Imperial palace complex in Beijing, and the hill where they piled up the dirt; same thing at the Summer Palace. All this was done with picks and shovels, men carrying dirt in baskets. The Ming Tombs are filled with stone tablets recording the accounts for the work in that era.
Or are you just looking for the quirky stuff?
