Not being backward compatible, W7 has killed some of the SW I've used for years, a few costing thousands of dollars to upgrade. That soured me on W7 and consequently I have no interest in W8.

I feel screwed.

I understand your frustration but at the same time technology moves on. Try playing your LP's on your MP3 player or stick your VHS tape in your DVD player.

There comes a time when technology takes a big enough step forward you don't want to look back. Is Windows 8 worthy of that classification, that remains to be seen.

This happens with EVERY single iteration of Windows, and it's always paranoia.

I think it's actually kind of sad that a new OS creates so much angst with it's potential customers. Shows the result of not having sufficient competition to keep the vendors honest as they find it perfectly acceptable to sell a product with serious flaws and then try to fix them after the fact.

Camperforlife,
But the new methods of play did not obsolete music or videos.

Mammoth,
I like XP too and don't feel it needed change for the sake of change.

Windows 7 was NOT my idea.

That won't stop some people from using it, support or not, security fixes or not. The quote about "cold, dead hands" is probably applicable for many!
