I did a lot of research prior to purchasing my Winnebago Class C. In order to pull a horse trailer I had a fabrication shop beef up the rear end and put a heavier draw-tight receiver. My Winnie Minnie is 29.5 ft and pulls my 2 horse trailer with 2 horses wonderfully. I have travelled up and down hills with no problem. I should never pull a 3 horse with this set up because I would be over the weight limits. The down side is that I only get 7 mpg, the upside us that the living space is so much larger than a living quarter horse trailer. Mine is a V-10 E450 and so far no issues other than needing new tires from sitting in storage for years.
Wow... What kind of horses do you take? Do they cause weight issues?
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

That's one of the reasons we looked hard to find a small Class C on the E450 chassis when the E350 chassis would otherwise have been adequate ... just in case something unbeknown-at-the-time came up in the future requiring a beefy truck under the motorhome.
Our daughter now is into horses long after we bought our Class C. However, so far she is hauling her horse only with our pickup truck!!
We tow only a small boat with our Class C. However, whether towing or not we really appreciate the extra secure feeling the E450 chassis provides in firm braking, engine/transmission cooling, grade climbing torque, and lateral stability from winds and road curves.
My trailer and horses included weigh in under 6,000 lbs which is what the hitch is rated for and also does not exceed the GVCWR of the motorhome. I think when I add water I am a bit over but handling is fine and I do not get any sway. I truly am very comfortable using this set up. I made sure I took this rig to professional fabricator and someone very knowledgeable and had the work done on the motorhome to make a safe for towing my setup.

We did the same thing...professional fabricator to strengthen the chassis...heavier WD hitch, etc. I have to keep looking in the mirror to know that it's there, it pulls so beautifully! (The gas mileage isn't much worse pulling the trailer, since there's almost no additional wind resistance.)
I do the same thing with a 29ft Shasta...poor horses get overheated without all the wind going by the windows though because the motorhome cuts it all.
